MCA Chooses Lottery System Over Choice System for Local Pools

May 29, 2013 by admin

After a challenging opening weekend for the Stapleton pools, the MCA put together an emergency panel Tuesday to decide a better system for getting people in and out of the pools. With the recent boom in Stapleton home sales, and no new pools currently being built, Stapleton pools were fraught with long lines, challenges with administration, and at many times, a one in one out policy. “We are well aware of the many difficulties experienced by residents over the Holiday weekend,” said MCA President Liza Kampstra. “We dedicated a panel of MCA leaders and Stapleton residents to come up with the best possible solution to the crisis.” [Read more…] about MCA Chooses Lottery System Over Choice System for Local Pools

Economic experts are predicting a huge summer for Wine Cellars The Bottle Shop at Stapleton for this summer. Wine Cellars has begun delivering alcohol to local pools this summer as well as ice, and is the only liquor store that has taken up the venture. “We noticed that people like drinking at pools, but don’t necessarily like to worry about packing booze along with the tens of other things they need to bring,” said co-owner Rich Motarjeme. “We wanted to help customers fill that gap.” [Read more…] about Analysts Expect Wine Cellars to Earn $1 Billion in Pool Alcohol Sales

Forest City Looking for ‘As Is’ Lessees for Stapleton Control Tower

May 29, 2013 by admin

Recent developments for the possibility of a community arts center being located and designed around the Stapleton Control Tower have not been positive. “We have learned that some of the changes that would need to be made to the tower to accommodate the type of center we want, will not be possible,” said MCA President Liza Kampstra. “We put a lot of time into this plan, and believed Forest City understood what we were looking for. But, in the end, they do not want to sell the tower, nor do they want any structural improvements or changes.” [Read more…] about Forest City Looking for ‘As Is’ Lessees for Stapleton Control Tower

Stapleton Cold Stone Creamery Manager Mark Fitzpatrick could barely believe it after a sixth customer was served in just under 90 minutes. “We never thought the record was something even close to attainable,” said Fitzpatrick. “We wanted to work hard, satisfy customers, and if we got the record, great, but it was never talked about.” Even more special for Fitzpatrick and the rest of the crew at the Stapleton store is that it was done the year of the 25th anniversary of Cold Stone. Stapleton Family Has Out of State Relatives Babysit Kids with Skype

May 14, 2013 by admin

Brian and Stacey Frazier have lived in Stapleton for eight years, and have two children, Autumn (7) and Aiden (5). The family stays active taking advantage of everything that Stapleton and Denver have to offer. Brian and Stacey also like to get some time to themselves, or go out and spend time with friends. Unfortunately, for Brian and Stacey, neither has any family here to help babysit for them when they are out. “It’s tough because it isn’t always easy to get a sitter you are comfortable with,” said Stacey. “Plus, it just starts to get expensive. So, we decided to start taking advantage of technology.” The Fraziers have recently begun to have family members outside of Colorado Skype with the kids, and essentially babysit them while they are out. “It works out pretty well,” says Brian. “We put computers with monitors in each of the rooms, and then whomever is watching them can watch them draw, play, or whatever. If the kids want to watch a movie, they even watch the movie with them, and tell them when to get into bed.” The Skype babysitting does come with some challenges. “Well, obviously, you can’t physically grab them through Skype,” said Stacey. “Maybe someday, but right now you can’t. So, breaking up fights is hard, or sometimes getting them to bed. Also, you have to tell them how to make their own dinners, which can sometimes be a process.” Overall, the Fraziers have been extremely happy with the new system. “It allows us more time out of the house, and obviously, we trust our family to watch the kids,” said Brian. “Our families also appreciate spending more time with the kids.” The Fraziers estimate they will save about $2000 on babysitting this year. “We are planning on the two of us taking a trip to Hawaii with that money,” said Stacey. “And of course, we will have our family Skype-watch our kids while we are gone.”]]>
