Concert on the Green Bands Booked On Condition No One Has Heard of Them

The Stapleton Concert on the Green series is a long-standing tradition for the Stapleton community. People come out for a relaxing night to hang out with friends, eat, drink, and dance. The kids really enjoy the show as well as they run up by the stage and dance around with their friends. The tradition is not going away soon. What also is not going away is how the MCA selects its bands. “We are pretty careful about how we select the groups for the shows,” says MCA President Liza Kampstra. “Obviously, they have to be family friendly, first and foremost. Secondly, we want them to have a fun sound. Finally, and really a huge factor, is that no one has ever heard of the bands that we book. It adds a little cache to the environment that Stapleton is looking for. This year’s Concert on the Green lineup includes the following bands:

  • Sputtermuffin
  • Basket of Fun
  • WAX!
  • Flaming Yogurt
  • Bill Bates and The Cowboys
  • RobTober
  • Jab-Jab Jabari
If anyone has heard of any of these bands they are encouraged to contact the MCA immediately. “It won’t necessarily disqualify them,” said Kampstra. “But, we at least want to take another look at things to make sure they were as unpopular as we originally had thought.” The Stapleton MCA says that residents should look forward to a great season of unique sounds from groups they have never heard of. ]]>
