Hail Damage Pays for Family’s Disney Vacation

July 2, 2014 by admin

hail pays for family vacationIf you live in Stapleton, you have most likely been bombarded by roofers’ fliers, phone calls, and knocks on your door. Sadly, this annoyance is probably the most damage caused by the hail storms in May. Families have to first deal with the roofers coming out, then the insurance companies, and typically have to pay at least a $1,000 deductible. After that, they will have to deal with roofers working on their house for at least a week. The process can be quite painful. [Read more…] about Hail Damage Pays for Family’s Disney Vacation

Forest City Working to Get Gas Pumps at Stapleton Pocket Parks

July 2, 2014 by admin

gas pumps at pocket parksIn yet another twist for Forest City and gas stations in Stapleton, Forest City is now pushing to get gas pumps at all Stapleton pocket parks. “It just makes sense,” says Forest City Spokesperson Janelle Ayers. “These will be Forest City pumps, owned by Forest City, and operated by Forest City. We have all these different companies, 711, Kroger, making money of pumps. Shouldn’t Forest City be getting a taste of that?” [Read more…] about Forest City Working to Get Gas Pumps at Stapleton Pocket Parks

Cool 75 Degree Day Forces Nannies to do Something With Kids Besides Go to Pool

July 2, 2014 by admin

cant go to pool during cold tempsOn Tuesday, temperatures in Stapleton dropped to the mid-70’s. This temporary freeze caused havoc for nannies and stay at home moms all over Stapleton. “I have basically been taking the kids to the pool every day since the summer started,” said nanny Erika Bearbower. “Then, we come home for lunch and video games, or a show, then back to the pool. It is a very simple routine.” However, when the temperatures dropped, the pool was no longer an option. Soopers to Stapleton: “La! La! La! La! We are Not Listening to Residents!”

June 18, 2014 by admin

King Soopers not listening to residentsEver since the announcement that King Soopers would be the anchor store at the Eastbridge Town Center, Stapleton residents have been holding meetings, starting Facebook pages, emailing Forest City and King Soopers, and everything else in between to give feedback or to possibly stop the grocer from moving into Eastbridge. “I have been to the SUN meeting, the Forest City and Kroger meeting, and have held rallies in my backyard,” said resident John Potter. “But every time we have meetings, or give extensive feedback, they never come back with anything that we need. No answers, or no improvements as far as we are concerned.” Potter should have been clued into Forest City and Soopers lack of interest in community feedback from the last community meeting the two companies attended. At one point in the meeting after listening to several residents repeat the same critical comments of King Soopers, King Soopers VP and representative Thad Ortner took the podium. Ortner covered his ears, and started shaking his head side to side while yelling, “La! La! La! La! I am not listening to you!” over and over for about 30 seconds, and then simply sat down and produced an arrogant smirk. Ortner was not available for comment after the meeting or for this article. “I think everyone was shocked,” said meeting attendee Mike Becker. “Not because of what he said. A lot of us know they don’t care about our opinions and are simply going through the motions. What was shocking was how the message was delivered. It was pretty childish and dickish.” Other attendees agreed. “It was just crazy,” said Kamie Olds. “It did shut everyone up, I will say. So, if his goal was to get people to stop ripping on King Soopers and stop repeating themselves, then I guess he did a great job.” Where Ortner’s plan succeeded, it also may have failed. “I can tell you that the community is more enraged and united as ever,” said Potter. “Once word spread how things were handled by the Soopers delegates, hundreds and hundreds of people have since joined our causes through Facebook.” Potter is unsure if this increase of anger and opposition against Soopers will make a difference, but they will continue to fight. “We will fight until the last Soopers brick is placed in its permanent structure. In fact, even after it is built, if we have to picket the place until they go out of business, we will!” An unnamed Soopers source has told The Stapletonion that Soopers remains as dedicated as ever to not listen to members of the Stapleton community. Looks like we have ourselves a little Havana St. standoff. ]]>

Stapleton High School Will Probably Be Best in World

June 18, 2014 by admin

northfield HSAccording to the June Front Porch, the new Stapleton High School is already a success. In the words of Principal Tropper, Stapleton High School will produce, “graduates who will go on and be amazingly successful adults—not only in the academic sphere, but as human beings and citizens too.” This makes perfect sense to Stapleton residents. After all, it’s their kids who will go on to be so incredible. “My kids are special,” said resident Mary Buenger. “So, the new Stapleton high school will be lucky to get them. I am sure the high school will be great, but no matter where my kids go, they will be tremendous human beings. We do a great job parenting them.” [Read more…] about Stapleton High School Will Probably Be Best in World

Block Captain Disappointed in Lack of Security Detail

June 18, 2014 by admin

block captain security detailWesterly Creek block captain Kristi McDonald was eager to begin all of her duties as new block captain. Duties include organizing the block party, forwarding SUN emails, attaining neighborhood watch signage, as well as many other tasks (I assume). McDonald proudly accepts the important position her peers have put her in, however, she is somewhat disappointed that the MCA doesn’t understand how key the Stapleton Block Captain position is. “The MCA only allots one security officer per block captain,” complained McDonald. “So, my 24 hour security is limited to the abilities of one man being able to protect me if someone wanted to take a shot at me. That seems pretty low. I mean, what does the President get?” [Read more…] about Block Captain Disappointed in Lack of Security Detail

The Day(s) Stapleton Stood Still: Starbucks Temporarily Closes for Construction

June 18, 2014 by admin

Starbucks-temporarily-closedStapleton residents have had to deal with their share of adversity. From potentially being forced to have kids go to one great school when they wanted to go to a different great school, to patiently waiting for an Eastbridge town center for eight years and running. But, Stapleton residents have endured these tough times and situations. “We as a community have been through a lot,” said resident David Brennan. “Look at the recent hail storms, and then I think even a tornado was pretty close from what I have heard. But, as they say, adversity builds character.” [Read more…] about The Day(s) Stapleton Stood Still: Starbucks Temporarily Closes for Construction

Forest City to Install Diagonal Crosswalks at Key Stapleton Intersections

June 18, 2014 by admin

pedestrian scrambleStapleton potentially has the highest percentage of stop signs at intersections than any neighborhood in Denver. But, all of these controlled intersections haven’t properly controlled the Stapleton pedestrian traffic. “You see residents crossing diagonally in intersections all the time,” said resident Jim Schwab. “Not only is it not safe, but it is inefficient for pedestrians and automobiles. They need to make sure pedestrians are crossing crosswalks appropriately, or do something about it.” [Read more…] about Forest City to Install Diagonal Crosswalks at Key Stapleton Intersections
