Hail Damage Pays for Family’s Disney Vacation

July 2, 2014 by admin

hail pays for family vacationIf you live in Stapleton, you have most likely been bombarded by roofers’ fliers, phone calls, and knocks on your door. Sadly, this annoyance is probably the most damage caused by the hail storms in May. Families have to first deal with the roofers coming out, then the insurance companies, and typically have to pay at least a $1,000 deductible. After that, they will have to deal with roofers working on their house for at least a week. The process can be quite painful. For at least one Stapleton family, however, the hail damage worked out well. “We had our insurance folks come out and look at the roof,” said resident Diane Owens. “There was damage, and of course we had a deductible. However, they then walked around our patio and showed us the damage to the fence and our lawn furniture. Well, we don’t give a damn about the fence and patio. That money became pocket money,” said Owens. Diane and Husband Tom decided to use that money to take their two kids to Disneyworld. “We had a vacation planned, but just hadn’t decided on where to go yet,” says Diane. “Of course, we have always wanted to take the kids to Disneyworld, but it is so expensive. Well, when we received that $3500 check, it made our decision pretty easy. We even upgraded to one of their family suites.” The Owens family spent eight days at Disneyworld, and had a great time. “The kids loved it, and we did too as we had never been there,” said Owens. “I am so thankful for the terrible storms that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. Without them, we never would have been able to afford this wonderful vacation.” ]]>
