North Central Park Residents Feel Isolated From Rest of Stapleton

North Central Park continues to be developed, yet something is a little different in this neighborhood. Although many Stapleton neighborhoods form their own cliques, residents at least have the option to easily venture over to another area. For example, Eastbridge residents can make the drive across the bridge to visit acquaintances from across the way. People from “Old Stapleton” can head down MLK to visit any of their neighbors from another hood. This is not true of the tucked away neighborhood of North Central Park, especially if you live on the east side. “It’s probably a lot like how Alcatraz prisoners felt,” says North Central Park resident Owen Williams. “We can see the rest of Stapleton the same way they could see San Francisco. It’s just really hard to get there.” It’s true that if a North Central Park resident wants to take their child to a birthday party anywhere else in Stapleton, they have quite the trip in front of them. They must drive far west all the way down 33rd or 35th to Central Park Blvd, then wait 10-15 minutes at the light, and finally head back east a long ways as well. Denver, Forrest City Agree to Renaming of Streets

In what has been an ongoing feud between Stapleton Residents and Forrest City with the City of Denver, an agreement has finally been reached to begin renaming streets that have the same name but either have “court” or “street” after them. Residents have missed packages, have had friends miss parties, and have even gone to the wrong home after a late night at the Berkshire. “We hate having to write on every invitation ‘Clinton Street NOT Clinton Way,’” says Clinton St. resident Annette Coffee. “It is extremely annoying. MCA Shows Unedited Version of Pulp Fiction; Kids F***ing Love It

The Stapleton MCA knocked the ball out of the park last weekend when they opted to go with the unedited version of Pulp Fiction, pleasing parents and kids alike.  “At first I thought it was going to be sh*tty,” said nine year old Abby Gates.  “But after 10 minutes, I thought it was f%ck@ng awesome!”  Surprisingly, kids were able to understand the dry and witty humor of Terrantino’s cult classic. “I really liked the part when he said to the guy, ‘Say, when.  Say when again mother f&ck#r, I dare you, I double dare you mother f*ck#r.’ Then he shot him.  I about p$ssed my pants,” said Gates. Parents admitted they were a little shocked by the language they allowed to go unedited in the film.  “I always loved the film, so I thought it would be neat to have the kids see it,” said Mike Hodges.  “I forgot how much swearing was in it.  At first, I was disappointed they were showing all the swearing, but honestly, without the swearing, the movie is not near as good.  I didn’t want the kids to miss out on that.” Early in the movie, there were a lot of uncomfortable stares between kids and parents, but as the movie went on, tensions eased and families laughed together.  “Sure, they were kind of confused during the scene with “the gimp,” but they didn’t completely understand the original Star Wars either,” says Hodges. The MCA was at first apologetic, but admitted that the flood gates are open now.  “It was not like what we remembered from watching it in college,” says President Kampstra.  “As we heard more and more laughs, we knew we were on to something and will continue to show these classics.” In the next two months, the MCA plans to show Animal House, Blazing Saddles, The Jerk, Airplane, Slapshot, and the first hour of Full Metal Jacket.  Bring your beer, your blanket, your sense of humor, and definitely don’t forget the kids.  ]]>
