Finally: Eastbridge Nabs All Natural Grocer

April 2, 2013 by admin

After years of broken promises from Forest City, and after lots of hard work by SUN and the MCA, Eastbridge is finally getting an all-natural grocer. “We are so pleased with the community and the hard work of several individuals,” said SUN President Mike Victoria. “This is the commutation of the efforts of so many people, lots of resources, and of course, lots of money. It is not a Whole Foods, or even a Whole Foods Express, but Mike’s Market is going to be just what we need to jump start the rest of the town center.” Mike’s Market will be “constructed” in the vast vacant area west of the car wash. “It may take up to three days for the market to be finished,” said Victoria. “A lot of that is drive time, as Mike is heading here from Texas, and then he needs to get his Denver vendor license, etc. Nonetheless, after he is in, we expect the increased traffic to generate interest from a liquor store, and possibly a café.” Eastbridge resident Kyle Closson shares Victoria’s excitement. “This is huge news to those of us who moved to this particular area of Eastbridge based on the promise of a town center,” said Closson. “The fact that it is going to be an all-natural grocer will finally make Eastbridge residents the top of the community instead of always being laughed at. Words hurt, you know.” Other residents agree. “Pretty soon we will be able to walk to get a cup of coffee and some fresh bananas,” says Eastbridge resident Kristine Clark. Some Eastbridge residents are underwhelmed at what the millions of dollars and thousands of man hours that were invested into the project. “I am sure Mike’s Market is a great company, and will do great here in Stapleton,” says resident Rob Carnewal. “It’s just that many of us expected a little more for how long we have waited, and for how much was put into this. It just seems a little small, I think, and it might not make the impact some expect.” No matter what side Eastbridge residents are on, they all seem excited for the grocer to be in place in mid-April. “Spring is alive, spring is alive,” said excited Eastbirdge resident Tracey Shelton. Who knows, the new grocer may even spring growth into the once abandoned town center. ]]>

Stapleton MCA to Introduce Tubing on Westerly Creek

April 2, 2013 by admin

Stapleton is a very active community, with many different options of things to do outdoors. Biking, walking, and even skateboarding are extremely accessible in the outdoor areas of Stapleton. However, Stapleton and Denver have many residents from the Midwest who miss being on the water. The Stapleton MCA recognized this and realized they needed to capitalize on an underutilized resource, Westerly Creek. “We spend a lot of time organizing efforts to clean up Westerly Creek, but put no time into how we can use it,” said Stapleton MCA President Liza Kampstra. The MCA decided to hold some brainstorming sessions to figure out what they could do with this majestic, meandering body of water. “Fishing was the first thing that was brought up,” says Kampstra. Unfortunately, there were just too many challenges in regards to stocking the creek, what to stock it with, etc. Other people brought up sailing, but after a comprehensive study on the average size of sailboats versus the size of the creek itself, it just wasn’t going to be feasible.” [Read more…] about Stapleton MCA to Introduce Tubing on Westerly Creek

Conservatory Green Builder Completes First Model Home

April 2, 2013 by admin

Conservatory Green builder All Natural Homes recently completed their model home in Stapleton’s newest neighborhood. “This is a big step to where we are headed as to who we want to live in this neighborhood,” said Forest City President Phil Dargossi. “We had a vision for this neighborhood, and this model home by All Natural Homes simply nailed it.” Dargossi feels the urban-green look will be situated very well next to a giant mega-mall. “The types of people that want to have big gardens in their backyards and on their roofs are the same types of people that want to have easy access to a New York and Company.” [Read more…] about Conservatory Green Builder Completes First Model Home

Stapleton Couple Discovers Hidden Pocket Park

April 2, 2013 by admin

Stapletonians Joe and Kate Hill have lived in Stapleton for over five years. They have friends in all of the Stapleton neighborhoods, and they take several walks with their dog and young children. “We thought we had seen everything you could see in our little community,” said Kate. “But, when we were walking in North Central Park, my son ran into one of the small pocket parks. We had been to that park before, but never really explored it.” The pocket park Kate is referring to is maybe 20 yards by 20 yards, and comes complete with green grass and a couple of rocks a child could safely climb on. However, while climbing on the rock, Kate and Joe’s son Eli must have tripped a switch or button, which revealed a park which none of them had previously seen. “It was like out of a movie,” said Joe. “All of the sudden, we are standing in this beautiful, 10 acre park, with trees, flowers, and playground equipment. They even had a basketball court. It was incredible.” [Read more…] about Stapleton Couple Discovers Hidden Pocket Park

April 2, 2013 by admin

The Stapleton community has a strong reputation when it comes to overall environmental friendliness, conservation, and recycling. The community through Forest City definitely promotes this avidly. “It is important that as we continue to build more units, we are conscience of the environment around us,” said Forest City Spokesperson Janelle Ayers. “We want to make sure everyone knows that we are the most environmentally friendly community not just in Colorado, but the nation. If we have to buy billboards across the city, purchase bus advertising, or even fly planes with banners, we will do it to get our message across.” [Read more…] about Stapleton, Forest City to ‘Go Big’ on Earth Day
