Scalia to Stapleton: “Pride Pool Party Unconstitutional”

July 9, 2013 by admin

Stapleton recently had another pride pool party, celebrating individual rights. For a majority of Americans, parties like this are not a big deal. And an even higher percentage of Stapleton residents support this type of community event. But for at least one Supreme Court justice, this type of party is not something that should be allowed in the United States. Drunk Pool-Goers Becoming Major Problem for Almost No One

July 9, 2013 by admin

An article in a local publication recently sparked concern over whether or not residents should be concerned about people drinking while at the Stapleton pools. “The article made it sound like banning booze could be on the table,” said local drinker and pool-goer Tim Cox. “I certainly enjoy beverages at the pool, and I have never even heard of a negative incident involving alcohol. All of the things I hear about involving alcohol and the Stapleton Pools are positive.” [Read more…] about Drunk Pool-Goers Becoming Major Problem for Almost No One

Drunk Stapleton Dads Impress Children with Backyard Firework Displays

July 9, 2013 by admin

A lot of parents struggle to get through the Fourth of July fireworks. Whether it is parking and waiting at Coors Field, or driving to some distant location to get a decent look at the firework displays across the city. And then there are the dads who have a strong interest in pyrotechnics and prefer to create the firework displays all on their own. The major benefit of this is not having to go anywhere, and usually, kids are just as impressed with these backyard displays as they are with the grand fireworks shows put on by the city or local sports teams. Havana Exit Opens Back Up After Adding New Speed Bumps

July 9, 2013 by admin

The infamous Havana St. Exit has reopened again after being closed for several days. Little work was done to the Smith Road and Havana intersection to improve traffic at this point, however, it does appear that two pointless speed bumps have been added to the street that passes directly by the Denver County Jail. Sex Ed Camp Hopes to Fill Holes Left By Local Schools

June 25, 2013 by admin

Stapleton parents put their kids in all sorts of camps during the summer. Some of these camps focus on sports, others on art, and of course some on music. If a child has an interest in an activity, a parent can find a camp for them. There are educational camps as well to help continue and advance a child’s learning over the summer. Recently, it was brought to the attention of the community that a local school had not taught a sex education curriculum that had been previously promised. “We had spoken with administrators at the school last year, and we were told the students would have a sex education component,” said concerned parent Abby Christensen. “Unfortunately, this did not happen.” Several parents were disappointed by this development. “We counted on this being part of the learning process for the kids,” said parent Chris McCoy. “Now, we are put in a very awkward situation where we may have to talk to our kids about this stuff. No one wants to do that.” Luckily, local camp Comeoniwannalaya hopes it can help resolve the issues left by the local schools. “We saw this opportunity, and figured creating this camp would be a great fit for the community,” said head Camp Comeoniwannalaya counselor Kerry Becker. “We think we will be around even after the schools teach the sex education curriculum. There is just a lot to learn when it comes to sex.” The camp begins July 8th, with two one week camps from Monday through Friday from 9 to noon. “We think we should be able to cover a lot in the one week period,” said Becker. “We obviously can’t get to everything, but the older and more advanced kids will definitely learn more. All the kids will get the basics.” The camp will be for kids ages 10 to 18 and will take place in classrooms at DSST. For more information and to register, visit campcomeoniwannalaya.com. ]]>

Stapletonians Protect Possessions Through Booby-Trapping

June 25, 2013 by admin

Stapleton residents have put up with petty crime over the years, but residents have finally decided to take a stand. “Enough is enough,” said Eastbridge resident John Penningroth. “The police don’t seem to be doing enough patrolling around here, and our neighborhood watch signs don’t seem to be doing anything. So, I guess it is up to us residents.” [Read more…] about Stapletonians Protect Possessions Through Booby-Trapping

Parkwood’s New Conservatory Green Home, the Tasmanian, to Include Snake Pit and Honey Badger Coop

June 25, 2013 by admin

Parkwood Homes released their most recent model for the conservatory green neighborhood on Monday, and buyers like what they see. “It seems like everyone in Stapleton is getting chickens or goats, and even cows,” said prospective buyer David Halsor. “I am totally fine with that, but it is not really my speed. I like to have a little more extreme-type animals, and this new model looks like I am the guy they are after.” [Read more…] about Parkwood’s New Conservatory Green Home, the Tasmanian, to Include Snake Pit and Honey Badger Coop
