The family stays active taking advantage of everything that Stapleton and Denver have to offer. Brian and Stacey also like to get some time to themselves, or go out and spend time with friends. Unfortunately, for Brian and Stacey, neither has any family here to help babysit for them when they are out.

“It’s tough because it isn’t always easy to get a sitter you are comfortable with,” said Stacey. “Plus, it just starts to get expensive. So, we decided to start taking advantage of technology.” The Fraziers have recently begun to have family members outside of Colorado Skype with the kids, and essentially babysit them while they are out. “It works out pretty well,” says Brian. “We put computers with monitors in each of the rooms, and then whomever is watching them can watch them draw, play, or whatever. If the kids want to watch a movie, they even watch the movie with them, and tell them when to get into bed.”

The Skype babysitting does come with some challenges. “Well, obviously, you can’t physically grab them through Skype,” said Stacey. “Maybe someday, but right now you can’t. So, breaking up fights is hard, or sometimes getting them to bed. Also, you have to tell them how to make their own dinners, which can sometimes be a process.”

Overall, the Fraziers have been extremely happy with the new system. “It allows us more time out of the house, and obviously, we trust our family to watch the kids,” said Brian. “Our families also appreciate spending more time with the kids.” The Fraziers estimate they will save about $2000 on babysitting this year. “We are planning on the two of us taking a trip to Hawaii with that money,” said Stacey. “And of course, we will have our family Skype-watch our kids while we are gone.”

Forest City’s Spokesperson Janelle Ayers made the company’s final public, non-Snapchat statement on Monday. “Moving forward, it will be the policy of Forest City Stapleton to do any and all communications via Snapchat. This hip new way of communicating is the future, and we like to stay on the edge of technology. We also like the concept of our communications being systematically deleted 10 seconds after we say them.”

Forest City admits to making some mistakes in regards to some communications in the past, and that Snapchat should eliminate the possibility of these errors in the future. “We certainly have made some statements and some could say promises that have ended up not playing out,” said Ayers. “Now, we have a little more freedom to say things to potential buyers and current residents, without feeling like they are going to throw it in our face in five years when it doesn’t pan out.”

Ayers says the company plans to use Snapchat for public statements, responses to statements, and even artist renderings of “future Stapleton.” “We have been testing the technology for a couple of months, and it simply gives us the flexibility that we need,” said Ayers. Ayers went on to say that Snapchcats via Forest City will leave their fans wanting for more. “We strongly feel this will make us more likeable. People will view these Snapchats and say, ‘what was that? What are they doing?’ and really want to pay attention when we send these Snapchats out.”

Immediately after the press conference, Forest City sent it’s first Snapchat which stated, “New Pool Coming into Bluff Lake.” After this raised more questions, Forest City immediately Snapchatted, “We never said that.”

Romero, who has written and directed the Night of the Living Dead films announced that the latest film in the Series will be filmed at the Stapleton King Soopers.

“We have been looking for a location for our next film after Survival of the Dead that combined a high number of local hotties whom we can cast as extras with some dark, stressful energy that would come through in the film.”

The Stapleton King Soopers wasn’t even on the list of possible locales for Day of the Shopping Dead until Romero was visiting family here and had to make a quick – or so he thought – trip to shop for some items for a family dinner.

“You know, I thought you guys had a Whole Foods or Sprouts here, or at least a supermarket that would be similar to a Whole Foods – you know being this is Colorado and all. I was in this store and at first, I was like, ‘You call this organic?!’ and I kept thinking this is so post-apocalyptic – with people wandering around just like the zombies in my movies.”

Apparently Romero was able to spend considerable time in the store as he was in search of a few items including American cheese slices for some grilled cheese sandwiches. After a 17-minute search, he did find the cheese slices tucked away in the far back corner by the yogurt.

“This is frustrating and great at the same time. I mean – it takes so damn long to find stuff here and there’s nobody here to help, so no wonder everybody looks pissed – not to mention this place is wall-to-wall people and shopping carts. All we’re going to need to do is get a little bit of makeup on some of the people who shop here to make them look a little bit more dead. We can then just let them wander and shop like they normally do and we can start filming.”

While Romero did note the dark, depressing energy of our overcrowded market, he did also notice how fit and good looking shoppers are. “Obviously a key ingredient to our movies is that we have attractive people in them, and your neighborhood and this store has a bunch of great looking men and women who will make great extras for this movie. I’m sure they look normal in other places they go. For the movie though, this is perfect.”

One problem Romero mentioned was the occasional group of King Soopers’ employees who may be standing around potentially interfering with filming. “Yep, I did notice that occasionally you do have some of these King Soopers people just standing in the aisles chatting each other up like they are in a park or on the street or something – not helping customers. This may get in the way of filming in some cases, but we do also have oblivious bystanders in our movies – it makes the scenes more real – and we should be able to include these people in our new movie. They seem pretty checked out, so I don’t think they’ll really notice us.”

Filming for Day of the Shopping Dead will begin this October. Audition and casting dates and locations will be announced this summer.

I could really use some help.”

Making matters worse for local realtors is just how competitive the market is. Agents are often working through the night building their new inventory. “It has been really hard,” said Hamrock. “I am out working in the field all day, then I head right over to my project and hammer away for eight hours. Next thing you know, it is time do the whole thing over again. In the end, I have great clients so it is totally worth it.”

Forest City Director of Development Brian Lockie says the company is doing everything it can to build homes and expand the development more quickly. “We are working hard to continue to expand the housing units,” says Lockie. “We are focusing all of our efforts there, and have reallocated our resources from the Eastbridge Town Center to continue our push north and east. We are trying to keep up with the demand, but it has been difficult.”

To stay competitive in this market, realtors like Hamrock will continue to be creative and think of ways to not only help new clients but create inventory for them as well. “One great thing about building the house yourself, is that you can truly know the house inside and out,” said Hamrock. “That way, I know there is no chance of misrepresenting anything about the home I am getting one of my clients into.”

The courtyards serve as a nice play area for the members and gives them a greater sense of community. According to those residing in these courtyards, there is only one problem: there is not enough privacy from outside residents.

“We see people run through here, let their off-leash dog in our area, and sometimes families will stop on walks and let their kids play in our common area,” said private courtyard resident Kevin Heller. “I know that 99% of these people are from Stapleton, so they should be able to read the signage. Do they not understand what private means?”

Residents are frustrated with the fact that they believe it is the same as someone walking right into their home. “When we bought our houses, we bought into the private courtyard, as if it was included in the price,” said courtyard resident Mitch Delaney. “You wouldn’t want strangers trampling all over your house without asking, and that is exactly what is going on.” Courtyard residents held a “town hall” meeting recently to discuss what should be done about this issue.

“We currently have several options on the table,” said Heller. Options include but are not limited to larger and more signage, putting up gates, private security, and possibly even attack dogs that are trained to attack all non-residents. “Something needs to be done, and we are still going through the process,” continued Heller. Heller is urging non-private courtyard residents to please stay off of their property. “You all have plenty of other options. From your own yards, Central Park, to all the pocket parks. Please, stay out of our homes.”

While this school will technically be a DPS charter school, it will be managed by the Phillips Andover administration. The new High School serving grades 9-12 will offer boarding in addition to day students and will have a capacity to hold up to 2,000 students with 1,950 spots held for Stapleton kids.

“We are very pleased that an elite institution like Phillips is coming to Stapleton. We were really freaked out by the idea that we might get a regular Denver High School here which of course wouldn’t be a good fit for our kids,” said SUN President Mike Victoria.

Some Stapleton and Park Hill residents have commented that this new school may worsen the image Stapleton has within the larger Denver community as a neighborhood that is more suburban than urban – not as diverse racially and socioeconomically as originally designed.

DPS Board member and Stapleton resident, Katie Jungling commented in response to this, “You know, we’ve been getting a lot of heat for not being diverse enough, and it was just, well, you know, becoming a lot of work to keep talking to people about it, so we just finally decided to go the other direction and play to our strengths. We are what we are – let’s just say it, privileged.”

Jungling commented further, “And since this school is going to be managed by a company from the East Coast, well, I think any other charter schools that are still really public schools will be, I think, seen as a lot better and more local. I think this should definitely cut down on complaints.”

The new school will be located north of I-70 on the land designated for a High School. Construction should begin this fall, with the school opening up in the fall of 2014. School officials are planning a six hour Orientation Day that will be held late Summer 2014.

“The guy completely changed the sport,” says Cuthbert. “He has so much talent, and it is so exciting to watch him play. He was hard not to cheer for.” That all changed in November of 2009 when Tiger was essentially caught in a cheating scandal. It was reported that Tiger had had several affairs with multiple women while leaving a pregnant wife at home. This did not go over well in the Cuthbert household.

“My wife began accusing me of being a cheater since I was a fan of his,” said Cuthbert. “We almost had to go through counseling, and in the end, we agreed that I could never watch Tiger Woods golf again.” Steve was able to uphold his part of the bargain for a long time, but this weekend, fell off the wagon.

“I read he was in the hunt for the Players Championship, and my wife was taking the kids down to see her mother in Castle Rock,” said Cuthbert. “So, I thought I had the time. I was down on the basement watching him finish up, when my wife suddenly burst open the basement door. She started yelling ‘cheater! cheater!’ and I knew I was pretty much screwed.”

Cuthbert tried to say he was just passing through channels and it happened to be at the exact time she came in, but that proved to be an unsuccessful argument. “It wasn’t a very good story,” admitted Cuthbert. “We are going to try to work through this, but right now, it would appear I am buried in the sand without a good lie.”

Six years ago, his wife Helen had their second baby. They now had a newborn and a two year old. Robert continued to run on his own, but told his wife he would love to get a running stroller for which he could eventually take both the kids. Robert told her to find one, as that was “her department.”

He was pleasantly surprised on his birthday with the new dual running stroller. He could immediately take his older child, and would soon be able to take both of them running with him. He also appreciated the nice touch of his wife having the stroller monogrammed. “Some people have personalized bowling balls or golf bags,” said Robert. “I really don’t do much of either of those, so it was really neat that my wife decided to put my nickname right there on the stroller, something I was going to use a lot.”

“He was really excited,” said Helen. “I didn’t have the heart to explain to him that “Bob” was simply the brand of the stroller. I figured he would eventually figure it out.” Robert was very proud of the stroller, and liked how it handled. He would often run into other people who would ask about the stroller, which did cause confusion. “I figured they were kind of teasing me by calling my stroller ‘the Bob’ poking fun at the fact that it was monogrammed. It didn’t bother me at all, as I was so proud of it.”

The confusion finally came to an end last week when he wanted to surprise his brother with a stroller after his brother’s wife announced she was pregnant. “He is a runner, too,” said Robert. “So, I figured mine worked so well, that I would get the same thing for him, and even have it monogrammed as well. I looked all over the stroller to find the name, and finally had to ask my wife.” Helen was happy Robert took it so well. “I explained it to him, and although he felt like an idiot, at least he wasn’t mad at me.” Robert is deciding now if he wants to get the stroller monogrammed. This time, it would say ‘Robert.’
