Nexit; North Stapleton Plans Withdraw from Rest of Stapleton

July 8, 2016 by admin

Conservatory-Green-Neighborhood-MapAmid reports of a large Stapleton expansion, and right on the heels of the Brexit, residents of the Northern Stapleton neighborhoods including Conservatory Green, Wicker Park, and Willow Park East have decided to exit the Stapleton community and build their own neighborhood and identity. The movement started through several area community Facebook pages, when residents saw the plans for Stapleton expansion. “I think we are really going to lose our identity,” said Conservatory Green resident Tim Gibbs. “I lived in North Central Park before moving here, and to be honest, the North Side has a whole different vibe to it than Old Stapleton anyway. Whether or not the expansion plans were revealed, I think the North Side would have eventually seceded from South Stapleton.” Maria Anderson also believes it was time for a split. “Apparently, crime is getting a little crazy up there. And at this point, they are kind of older and established. Not just the houses, the people, too. People just seem younger and happier on the North Side, so I don’t think we need their negativity.” [Read more…] about Nexit; North Stapleton Plans Withdraw from Rest of Stapleton

July 8, 2016 by admin

demographic reportIn a recent report revealed by the Front Porch, Stapleton residents were ecstatic to find out they are still the richest and whitest community in Northeast Denver. “It was like finding out you get to host the Olympics,” said resident Kate Hanlon. “I know, we kind of expected it, but at the same time, it’s always great to hear. Like when people tell me I’m pretty.” The report highlighted a handful of key findings, comparing Stapleton to Lowry, Denver, and the state of Colorado. The demographics mostly emphasized in the study included home values, household income, and ethnicity. [Read more…] about Demographic Report: Yay! We’re Rich AND White!

Crime Report: Items Continue to Not Be Stolen from Family’s Locked Garage

July 8, 2016 by admin

locked garageA recent report uncovered that hundreds of items from one garage and possibly thousands of items from garages all over Stapleton continue to remain in the exact same place their owners left them prior to locking their garages. “I really can’t believe it,” said resident Ron Fitzpatrick. “With all the reports of crime, you would believe that everything is constantly getting stolen from everybody. But, at least in our situation, we have had nothing taken. Truly remarkable.” The incredible statistic makes others believe Fitzpatirick may not be alone. “It’s certainly possible that there are other residents out there who are locking up their stuff and not losing it as well,” said resident Mark Moellering. “We don’t typically lock our garage and sometimes leave it open. Unfortunately, we have had some items taken. This new report makes me think maybe we should consider locking our stuff up at night.” [Read more…] about Crime Report: Items Continue to Not Be Stolen from Family’s Locked Garage

Stapleton Man Ultimately Chooses Nice Lawn Over Spending Time with Kids

July 8, 2016 by admin

lawn over kidsJustin Sifers is like many Stapleton residents, working an office job with limited travel. He works hard to support his family and to make sure he provides his kids with the best opportunity they can afford. Sifers also has his own interests including golf, reading and spending times with friends. One of his biggest passions, however, is yard work. “I really like to have a nice, clean, green lawn,” said Sifers. “I actually like the process of getting rid of the weeds, seeding, watering, fertilizing, the whole thing. I don’t even care that much about the plants in the yard, but the grass needs to be green. So, to do it right, it takes time to make things look the way I am comfortable with.” That time it takes can come at a price. “We have two kids, and I certainly love spending time with them,” said Sifers. “But, because I have a full-time, stressful job, I don’t have a lot of free time. And the kids of course have their own schedules, so finding time that matches up is hard to do.” In the last year, Justin had been spending a lot of his free time with his kids, which eventually caused his lawn to not be up to his standards. “Weeds started to grow more than what I accept,” said Sifers. “The grass wasn’t mowed as perfectly as I would like, and just wasn’t as green. That time I was spending with my kids was essentially killing my lawn, which is unacceptable.” This spring, Sifers realized he would have to choose between having a nice lawn or spending time with his children. “Your lawn says something about who you are,” said Sifers. “The kids, they seem to be growing fine with just a little of my guidance. Grass doesn’t grow in the same way. It needs constant love, constant attention. So, I decided when given the option between spending time with my kids or working on my lawn, I would have to work on my lawn.” Sifers says he still plans to be a part of his children’s lives, but not if it affects the quality of his lawn. “I love my kids, but a man’s not a man unless he has a nice yard.” ]]>

Stapleton Woman Held Hostage By Evil HOA

July 8, 2016 by admin

Homeowners-AssociationA Stapleton woman was recently released after being held hostage by her HOA for almost a month. She was finally released after agreeing to give in to the demands of the HOA and pay them $6,500. The Stapletonion was the first to speak to the woman after her terrifying ordeal ended just over three weeks ago. “I just wanted to sell my house,” said a visibly shaken Tessa Fitzpatrick. “We had a potential buyer who asked to have the radon levels tested, and that’s when things started to go bad.” [Read more…] about Stapleton Woman Held Hostage By Evil HOA

Colorado Company “Buzz”es the Tower

June 22, 2016 by admin

Stapleton FlybyLast Saturday, Colorado company Way to Grow used a unique form of advertising to get the attention of NE Denver and Aurora residents. The company introduced some aerial advertising for its company which “specializes in supplying the gardening and greenhouse community with the tools and knowledge required to successfully grow healthy plants of all varieties, indoors and out.” This includes but is not limited to the ability to legally grow your own marijuana. The aerial advertising definitely caught the attention of Stapleton residents and event-goers. “The plane was extremely loud,” said resident and attendee of the Denver Arts Festival Kevin Hansen. “At times, you couldn’t hear yourself think. It was just kind of annoying. Maybe next time they can just crop dust us with thousands of fliers so it is over a little more quickly.” Resident Mark Glynn agreed. “It was pretty loud,” said Glynn. “And it seemed to just circle directly above Stapleton, and more specifically, my head for about an hour.” Way to Grow spokesperson Bob Sharp said the company was hoping to get noticed, but certainly didn’t intend to annoy anyone. “We know there are a lot of people in NE Denver who prefer organic products, and like to grow their own food,” said Sharp. “We just wanted to get our name out there in a unique way. Hopefully, people checked us out, and in hindsight, aren’t to upset about the noise of the single engine plane.” Sharp says he is unsure if they will employ the same advertising tactic again, but many Stapleton residents may tell Way to Grow, “negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.”]]>

Stapletonian’s Report to Police “Total Dog Sh#t”

June 22, 2016 by admin

total dog shitLast Thursday, someone reported a car driving slowly down alleys near 35th and Akron. The suspicious man was seen getting in and out of his car, going into people’s backyards and then putting stuff in his trunk. “I saw the strange behavior and texted a tip right away,” said resident Michael Potter. “We have too much of that stuff going on around here so I want to put a stop to it when I can.” Luckily, police arrived at the scene and pulled the man over. Gunshots or Fireworks? A Residents’ Guide

June 22, 2016 by admin

070811_1913~01 070811_1913~01[/caption] Being a neighbor to Aurora, Stapleton is no stranger to the sound of gunshots. And recently, the issue has become worse with some shots being fired within Stapleton itself. Others have reported fireworks being shot out of moving vehicles headed through Stapleton. Sure, it’s better than gunshots, but I believe residents would prefer to have neither if given the choice. “I don’t like thinking that if I am just doing yard work at my house there’s a chance I could get hit with a stray bullet,” said resident Randy Vardaman. “Or the fact that lots of kids play in the yards and alleys. We could really do without random gun fire.” Resident Shannon Lembeck is disappointed in the increase of gunfire as well. “It’s pretty discouraging,” said Lembeck. “Growing up, I always pictured myself raising kids in a ‘gunshot free zone.’” [Read more…] about Gunshots or Fireworks?
