September 10, 2013 by admin

Recently, the City of Denver and traffic engineers met to look at some possible solutions to the traffic issues on Quebec St. Anyone who has accidentally taken Quebec and thought they were going to cross over Colfax between the hours of 2PM and 6PM knows what a mess this can be. Drivers and residents in the area looked to the city for solutions. [Read more…] about Quebec Street: The Ultimate Quagmire

RTD Bus in Stapleton Almost Causes Issue

September 10, 2013 by admin

Erin Logan was walking along the trail on 29th St. when she saw an RTD bus heading her way on the street. She quickly ducked behind a tree in case the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus continued on its way without hitting her, and made its passenger pickup on 29th. Luckily, there was no incident. This time. “I am okay, and no one was hurt,” said Logan. “Yeah, I was a bit lucky, so I am going to make sure I check the bus schedule and just avoid being on 29th Street during those times.” [Read more…] about RTD Bus in Stapleton Almost Causes Issue

Study: 62% of Stapleton Women Speak to Husbands only Using Questions

September 10, 2013 by admin

A recent study reveals that over half of Stapleton women communicate with their husbands almost exclusively using questions, or interrogative statements used to test knowledge. “We are studying the communication habits of married couples,” said research director Brian Crowley. “The Stapleton community has a dense population of married couples in the age range we wanted to look at (35-50), so we interviewed about 1,000 couples in Stapleton. We were able to learn a lot about communication habits.” [Read more…] about Study: 62% of Stapleton Women Speak to Husbands only Using Questions

Stapleton Welcome Committee Fears Worst of New Eastbridge Resident

September 10, 2013 by admin

“We will be out here until we know the truth–this is just not Stapleton,” said one of a small group of passionate protestors picketing the home of a new Eastbridge resident. Support is mounting against the new resident’s lifestyle since Wednesday morning when a neighbor sporting a welcome basket was able to enter the home. “There is no evidence that this woman has any dogs at all, not one.” A second story neighbor had alerted the Stapleton Master Community Association earlier this month that there were “no piles of dog crap whatsoever” in the new resident’s rear yard. “Let’s not vilify this poor woman until we know the facts,” said Stapleton resident and community association officer Chris Mason. “There have always been dogs, there will always be dogs, and it’s very possible there is a dog in there somewhere. I know we are all optimistic.” The investigation is ongoing, but an undisclosed source has claimed to have evidence that the middle-aged single woman may in fact be harboring a domestic Siamese mix cat inside the residence. Four-Time Stapleton Kids Triathlon Champion Evan Klunder Banned for Life

August 28, 2013 by admin

It was a sad day for the Stapleton triathlon community after the event received another huge blow. Four-time champion Evan Klunder (nine years old) received his third positive doping test and was given a lifetime ban by the Stapleton Triathlon Committee (STC). “So many four, five, and six year olds look up to Klunder, so this is not something that we took lightly,” said STC President Jason Porche. “We have been working tirelessly to clean up this event and give it some legitimacy as we know so many kids have tested positive for banned substances, and some have started coming clean years after the occurrence.” The Stapleton Triathlon began as a fun event to encourage fitness for kids, but quickly became extremely competitive much like the rest of the Stapleton community. “In the second year, you could already see the big changes,” said Porche. “Kids were wearing triathlon shorts, wearing swim caps, riding $5,000 bikes, and expensive running shoes. We did not foresee it coming to this so quickly. Many of the kids even had specialized coaches for each event and even the transitions.” Klunder, a four-time champion of the event, also felt the pressure. “After I won it my first year (5), my parents were really proud,” said little Evan. “I got a big trophy and it was really fun.” The next year, the fun seemed to be out of it. “The next year I did it, we didn’t really do much over the summer except train,” said little Evan. “We would go to the pool, but not for fun, just to swim laps. My dad would have me out running at 4 in the afternoon when it was really hot. He said he loved me and wanted me to do my best.” Evan does not recall any major changes to his diet. “On race day, I would get a lot of carbs, but nothing out of the ordinary.” Evan won the event his second year, but the race was close, so his parents knew they had to make some changes. Evan’s parents refused to be interviewed for this article. “My mom started rubbing cream on my arms and legs,” said Evan. “I asked what it was, and she said it was sunscreen. I knew it wasn’t. I also began taking ‘special medicine’ they said would make my muscles feel better.” Evan stops short of blaming his parents. “They were my coaches, my mentors. I trusted them. But, at the same time, I wanted to win more big trophies, so I could have asked more questions. I could have refused the treatment they were giving me. Look, I’m nine years old. I can take responsibility for my mistakes and I have to pay for them. I’m not a three year old like Ryan Braun.” Evan says he will miss the fans, the competition, and the trophies, but hopes he will be out competing again, even if it is not at the Stapleton Kids Triathlon. “I know that (Stapleton Kids Triathlon) is probably not going to happen. But, I am going to work hard, get back the community’s trust, and hopefully by the time I am in Jr. High I will be out there on the fields and the community can once again cheer me.” ]]>

Stapleton Dads Mourn Loss of Back to School Nannies

August 28, 2013 by admin

It was a sad day late last week for hundreds of Stapleton dads. The college girl summer nannies had to report back to campus, and therefore, left the Stapleton neighborhoods, and more importantly, the pools. “It hurts,” said local dad Jim McCoy. “It seemed like they were here for such a short time, and now they are gone. I knew it was going to end, but it doesn’t make it any easier for us.” [Read more…] about Stapleton Dads Mourn Loss of Back to School Nannies
