Stapleton is already overcrowded with young children to the point where people are already demanding a fourth and fifth elementary school to accommodate the needs of the community. Forrest City statistician Eric Lewis is expecting things to get worse before they get better. “A lot of families were done having kids, or at least they thought,” said Lewis. “There are many book clubs all over Stapleton, and many of those clubs have been reading the NY Times Best Seller Fifty Shades of Gray. We are predicting that families with two kids will have three in the next year, and families with three kids will soon have four. These “surprise babies” or unplanned pregnancies we are calling “Shades of Gray babies.”

Forrest City Response to S.W.E.E.P: “Nothing More Urban Than Airport Debris”
Recently, the Stapleton organization S.W.E.E.P (Stapletonians Want Environmental Earnestness Pronto) has caused quite a stir with its complaints about airport debris near one of the Stapleton boroughs. “We were promised green parks all over Stapleton,” says S.W.E.E.P leader Kim Tiedt. “What we got is a bunch of concrete and garbage right in our neighborhood.”

Stapleton All Star Youth Baseball Team Defeats Rockies in Exhibition

Finally! Stapleton Parks to Transition to Off-Leash Areas
After a recent push by authorities to crack down on off-leash dogs in Stapleton, Forrest City and the City of Denver have agreed to allow dogs to be off-leash at all Stapleton parks including Central Park and all major pocket parks. “As many people that complained about the off-leash dogs, we had twice the complaints from the owners that don’t leash their dogs,” says Forrest City President Phil Dargossi. “Colorado does not have state leash laws, so we can be flexible with it.”
Denver officials quickly went with Forrest City’s recommendation without much hesitation. “We want to do what we can to appease the good people of Stapleton,” said Mayor Hancock. “We like their votes, and have little interest in listening to their complaints, so we just kind of go with what appears to be the majority.”
Off-leash dog owners brought several good points to the town hall meeting including but not limited to: leashes causing more injuries than actual dogs (not fact-checked) and “it is really not that big of a deal, so let’s stop worrying about it.”
Those against off-leash dogs are extremely upset. “A black lab cornered me and my family at the boat (dog) pond at Central Park four years ago on the dock,” says resident Mike Potter. “We were frightened to death. It never did anything but wag its tail, but the emotional scars are still there.”
The law is in effect immediately, and will be up for change or renewal in one year after an evaluation of its effects. “Is it possible parks will be overrun with dogs,” asks Dargossi. “Certainly. But that’s definitely a distraction from the prairie dogs overrunning the open space.”]]>
Construction Cones on Havana St. Exit Gain Historic Landmark Status
The Havana St. Exit has been under construction significantly longer than the entire Central Park Blvd. Exchange, and now the city is finally recognizing the construction cones by giving them historic landmark status. Without special permits from the city, the mayor, the historic society and the governor, the cones along Havana St. between the I-70 exit and MLK Blvd., will remain forever.
“It is really a great honor, and really neat to add yet another historic thing to our community,” said SUN President Grant Bearbower. “Obviously, we had confidence the tower would gain this status, and we had hope for the construction cones, but it is never a sure thing. Just very exciting.”

New Stapleton Homes to Come with Pre-Built Bird’s Nest
Stapleton homes have long been the nesting place for many birds in the area seeking a corner lot, a dry area, and a great place to raise their kids. They are not much different than many of the area’s human residents in regards to why they moved here in the first place. Problem is, these birds aren’t paying the mortgages, and sometimes frighten residents and even build homes on top of expensive hanging baskets.
“Every year we have to deal with birds coming in and nesting in our patio,” says resident Holly Christensen. “As soon as you see the eggs, you are guilted in to not touching the nest. I don’t like birds, but I can’t kill baby birds.” Many residents feel the same as Holly, but don’t know what to do, as there is no sure-fire way to keep them off the properties.
