With the addition of the Eastbridge Town Center and the Stanley Marketplace, as well as easy access to downtown with the light rail, some area businesses may begin to take a hit. And nowhere is that hit more likely to happen than Quebec Square. Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc (IARET). had recently purchased the area for $52 million. The business makeup of the community has changed drastically since then, and now the large corporation must decide what direction they are going to go with in the area retail development.

Forest City Stapleton Boldly Breaks News About Recent Successes
In a recent study conducted by John Burns Real Estate Consulting and Robert Charles Lesser & CO., Forest City’s Stapleton master planned community ranked fourth in the country with 665 homes sold last year. The news from the obscure ranking which means almost nothing to people outside of the real estate industry, was posted on the Stapleton web site. “Let’s just say we drank a lot of champagne,” said Forest City spokesperson Janelle Ayers. “We were ecstatic about the news, since we had previously fallen to 11th in 2014. It’s just a big, big deal, and we wanted to give everyone in the Stapleton community a chance to boast about how great of a community they live in, but also a chance to pat us on the back. We really deserve it. We are talking about number four as ranked by John Burns Real Estate Consulting and Robert Charles Lesser & CO. Just wow.”

Stapleton Dad Realizes Wife Not Using Wizardry to Get Kids Ready for School
Stapleton dad Ben Kimball is like many other working parents in Stapleton. He gets up early, and is out the door by around seven so he can be at his office by eight. “Sometimes, I get up and go to the gym before work, so leave by 5:30, and then just go straight to the office afterwards,” said Kimball. After Kimball leaves, his wife Tracey gets their kids (9, 7, & 5) ready for school. “There are a lot of things going on,” said Tracey. “Waking them up, keeping them from fighting, sometimes showers or baths, making lunches, making sure they have everything they need in their backpacks, knowing their schedules for afterschool, among many other things. Just one little thing going wrong can easily change the course of the whole morning.”
Last Thursday, Ben decided to stay home from work for the first time in quite some time. While home, he decided to help get the kids ready for their day. “It was a mess,” said Ben. “A couple of the kids were yelling for no reason, then one didn’t want to go to school, another got mad because of what we were packing for lunch. It was just crazy.” Ben had no idea how difficult the morning routine was and how much Tracey was going through every morning. “I guess I thought she used some sort of magic, or wizardry,” said Ben. “But, I guess that is not the case. She must actually have to go through these 175 or so school days without any sort of mystic powers. I don’t know how she does it. It seems like a lot of work, unless that just happened to be the one off day of the kids.” Tracey confirmed she is not using any magic, nor is she a witch. “It just takes sticking to a routine, and fighting the good fight every day. I wish I was a sorcerer,” said Tracey.
Ben says the experience has taught him a lot. “I certainly won’t take that job for granted anymore,” said Ben. “I used to just get in my car, listen to some sports talk radio, and zone out, assuming everything at home was being handled with ease. Now, I am going to try to work from home a little more so I can help, and other days I will try to get things ready such as backpacks, lunches, laying out clothes, etc. Maybe that will help a little with that struggle. But, if I do find out she has the powers of Morgana, I will be back to getting out of that nuthouse as soon as I can.”

DPS to Direct All School Related Questions to Stapleton Social Media Sites
Tom Boasberg recently stated a major change in policy in regards to questions and answers for the Denver Public school system. Moving forward, Boasberg says Denver Public Schools will longer field questions via telephone or email, and all inquiries will be redirected. “It seems residents in the Denver community of Stapleton have all of the answers,” said Boasberg confidently. “So, for those who have very specific questions regarding Denver Public Schools, we will refer those questions to Stapleton and their social media sites.” Boasberg said the sites would include the Big Tent Stapleton Mom’s Group, Stapleton Swap, and Stapleton Block Captain Facebook page, to name a few. “There are several Stapleton resources out there,” said Boasberg. “We hope the Denver community will take advantage of them.”

CAB Diversity Report: West and East Stapleton to Change Names to “Black” and “White” Stapleton, Respectively
Some information from the CAB diversity report was recently released in the Front Porch, and much of the information confirmed what Stapleton residents probably already knew. When compared to the city of Denver, Stapleton has a higher percentage of homeowners, a higher home value, and a higher median income. This information was hardly a revelation to Stapleton residents. “I don’t think it takes an actuarial scientist to figure that out,” said resident Scott Youde. “You can drive around Stapleton for five minutes and discern that.”

Stapleton Mom Feels Life Isn’t Much Different Than Movie Groundhog Day
The 1993 movie Groundhog Day follows the life of a news reporter who gets stuck on a particular day, Groundhog Day, and wakes up every day at the same time and place. With Groundhog Day being this week, Stapleton mom Kathy Shaner can’t help but compare the underappreciated film to her own life. “The truth is, a lot of days I feel like I am waking up, living the same day over and over,” said Shaner. “Get kids ready for school, watch husband leave for work, take kids to school, yoga, Starbucks, housework, pick kids up from school, after-school activities, etc., etc. The days kind of blend together, and I can hardly discern one day from the next.”
In the picture show Groundhog Day, Bill Murray’s character Phil Connors ends up making some positive life changes which ultimately help him escape reliving the same day over and over. Shaner is not sure what she can do to escape the rigorously monotonous routine she seems stuck in. “What if I’m wrong, and I’m not reliving the same day over and over,” says Shaner. “I take the risk that I could be negatively affecting all the lives around me including my kids. It’s just too big a risk to take. So, I’ll keep going through every day, until something happens that snaps me out of my tedious, daily routine.” The only thing that may break Shaner out of the circle is if some girlfriends take her out on a Thursday night. So, if you’re friends with Kathy, please, give her a call, and take her out for a big night of drinking. It might be her only hope.

RTD Downs DOC in Contest to Make Havana Exit More Annoying
The testing of the new Light Rail at Havana and Smith Road has many wishing for the good ol’ days when a trip down Havana meant enjoying the scenic views of not one, but two correctional facilities while waiting your turn at a lengthy four-way stop. Now we get to enjoy those sights even longer as some lucky commuters with unfortunate timing get stuck at a stoplight for nearly 10 minutes at a clip while they test the new high-speed trains.

Punch Bowl Social to Acquire Control Tower Land and Begin LONG Construction Project
DENVER, CO – MARCH 9: A plan is announced to restore the air traffic control tower in Stapleton and turn it in to a second location for the Denver-based Punch Bowl Social. It will also serve as the company’s corporate headquarters. The tower is located at the intersection of Central Park Blvd. and Martin Luther King Blvd. (Photo by Kathryn Scott Osler/The Denver Post)[/caption]By April, it appears Punch Bowl Social will have the deed to the 2.2 acres of land around the control tower and will be able to begin construction on the cool new fun and eatery™. The project won’t be easy, according to Project Manager Randy Gibbons. “There are so many things that need to be addressed,” said Gibbons. “There are structural issues, electrical issues, design issues, etc., etc. Plus, it’s not like we simply need to upgrade things. We are repurposing the facility. It was a place to direct planes, now it needs to be a place that sells food. It’s a monster of a project.”
