Stapleton is well known for being a great place to raise a family. Also well-known in Stapleton are the many hard-working moms, both stay-at-home and otherwise. The Stapleton moms get most of the attention due to their hotness and to the now defunct Stapleton Moms Yahoo group. Much less heralded are the dads in Stapleton, but there are many great dads in the community, albeit, not as attractive as the moms.
In fact, there are so many great dads in Stapleton, that over 850 of them received some version of “greatest dad ever” mentions from their wives on Facebook. “I thought the best thing I could do for my husband was to publicly let everyone know what a great dad he is,” said resident Amelia Clark. “He is the best father they could have asked for. And I guess, technically, genetically the only father they ever could have had.” Other Stapleton moms joined in the claims of their spouse being the best dad ever. One resident claimed on Facebook, “Happy father’s day to the world’s number one dad. The kids and I are so lucky to have you!”
Some residents are frustrated with what they feel are over exaggerated claims. “I think it is great that people are proud of their husbands as parents,” said resident Andrea McCoy. “But, greatest dad? My husband is clearly a couple heads above the rest when it comes to being a dad, so people just need to be a little more thoughtful when they make their claims. Heck, go ahead and say second best dad. It’s much less offensive to me.”
Denver University statistician Rob Street says that proving ‘the greatest dad ever’ would be nearly impossible. “Simply making the claim with a picture of a dad smiling with his kids is hardly scientific,” says Street. “In fact, what makes a great dad to one person is certainly not the same to another. You would really need to break ‘best dad ever’ into different types of categories. Honestly, it’s way too big of a headache to be concerned with. My thought is that maybe people should simply stop claiming someone is the greatest dad ever.” Next year, The Stapletonion hopes to implement some criteria so we can at least crown a greatest dad in Stapleton. ]]>
