Stapleton Unicycling Group Just as Dorky as it Sounds

November 27, 2012 by admin

Stapleton residents have created several groups to make each resident feel like they are a part of something and to find friends with common interests. There are several exercise groups, running groups, biking groups, singles groups, dinner clubs, wine clubs, guys night out groups, and even a kite club. But things became a little dorkier and whiter in Stapleton in late October when Mike Logan created the Stapleton Unicylcer’s Club. “I typically would ride my unicycle pretty early in the morning in fear that others would make fun of me,” said Logan. “Then, I started seeing some other guys out riding their unicycles at about the same time. At first, we would exchange friendly waves, and eventually stopped to chat. We realized that there are probably a lot of people who love unicycles but simply are afraid of being ostracized, especially in this judgmental community.” After exchanging information with a couple of the fellow unicyclers, the Stapleton Unicycler’s Club was born. “It’s not a large group of us right now,” says Logan. “We probably have six total members, with only three to four showing up for our regular rides.” Logan says the group still meets early in the morning, and will ride around the Stapleton trails before ending at one of the rider’s homes for coffee. “It has been great to meet new friends and to share the common bond that is unicycling,” says Logan. “Eventually, we hope to grow to 20 to 30 members through promoting this great activity. We even want to do a kid’s unicycling club.” For those interested in joining the Stapleton Unicycler’s Club, you can go to www.stapletonunicycles.com.]]>
