Due to the huge economic growth from the farmer’s market and Sweet William Market, Forest City has now given the green light for more retail to occupy the founder’s green space.
“The park was underutilized by the people, and it wasn’t making any positive economic impact to the area,” said Forest City spokesperson Janelle Ayers. “That’s when we decided to start with seasonal business and asked the local Christmas tree company to be our first lessee.”
Historically, the founder’s green has set economic growth patterns that far outweigh those by the ‘brick and mortar’ stores in the crescent. “We still plan on gouging the small business owner with high priced rent for retail space, and the addition of another two acres of retail space on the greens, means that Stapleton is truly “self-sustaining.”
The list is not formalized yet, but new retailers are looking to set up shop in the founder’s green. Retailers include WalMart, Chick Fil-a, A-1 Self Storage, Mile High Club Dispensary, MicroTarget aimed only at selling socks, underwear, and legos, and Costco Express which focuses on diapers and formula. There will also be a Starbucks centrally located. No new restaurants are in the plan, but parking will be provided for the food trucks. Soon the trees will be cut down to make room for the 13 new parking spaces entrepreneurs hope to fill. ]]>
