{"id":6654,"date":"2016-10-19T20:34:55","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T03:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=6654"},"modified":"2016-10-19T20:34:55","modified_gmt":"2016-10-20T03:34:55","slug":"the-constellation-ice-cream-shop-to-be-cornerstone-of-town-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=6654","title":{"rendered":"The Constellation Ice Cream Shop to be Cornerstone of Town Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/eastbridge-residents-wonder-if-one-ice-cream-kiosk-is-enough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">As expected<\/a>, the ice cream<a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Ice-cream-shop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6675 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Ice-cream-shop-300x132.jpg\" alt=\"ice-cream-shop\" width=\"300\" height=\"132\" \/><\/a> shop being built in the town center, <a href=\"https:\/\/frontporchstapleton.com\/article\/different-topping-ice-cream-shop-coming-eastbridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Constellation<\/a>, will be the flagship of the Eastbridge Town Center. The store will come complete with a massive artistic architectural project including a replica wing of the Lockheed Constellation airplane. \u201cIt is really going to be a great building,\u201d said designer Dave Reynolds. \u201cThe building is really going to \u2018top off\u2019 the town center, pun intended.\u201d The design is impressive, if not overwhelming, including the giant wing and a fuselage. The length of the piece extends about 30 feet from The Constellation itself, and is about 20 feet off the ground. \u201cWe are paying homage to the history of Stapleton,\u201d said Reynolds.\n<!--more--><\/p>\n\n\nWhile most residents appreciate the architecture, some wonder why a small ice cream shop should be such a focal point of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/soopers-opening-delayed-until-june-eastbridge-residents-simultaneously-shout-fck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new town center<\/a>. \u201cI get it, and it will probably be really cool,\u201d but why have it be with the ice cream shop?\u201d asked resident Terri Stevens. \u201cWith all the building going on over there, maybe they could have done something cool with the <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/dev2016\/posts\/fifty-shades-of-grey-forest-city-soopers-unable-to-give-eastbridge-town-center-any-sex-appeal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">King Soopers building<\/a>.\u201d Other residents agree. \u201cWhat if The Constellation goes out of business?\u201d asked Brian Walker. \u201cI mean, I am guessing Forest City is going to charge a lot for that space. I\u2019m just not sure if ice cream, coffee and soup will be able to pay the bills for that place. Then what? It may be pretty tough to repurpose a place that small with a sculpture that big.\u201d Reynolds says he has confidence the structure will remain even if the economy struggles. \u201cIf ice cream sales aren\u2019t as expected, they will figure something else out.
