\t\t\t\t\"trash<\/a>The City of Denver recently dropped trash cans off to all Denver residences in an effort to ease the pickup and processing of trash in Denver. Denver and Stapleton residents will no longer be able to use their old trash cans or just throw bags out in their alley. Residents would be left with useless trash cans taking up space only being used the one time every four weeks for trash overflow day. Luckily, there would be a trash can recycle day in Stapleton held at Bill Roberts. Residents would be able to come and drop off their old trash cans, listen to some live music, grab some beer and food, and spend time hanging out with friends and neighbors. Or at least they thought.\n\n\u201cWhen I came by, it was literally a line of cars dropping off trash cans to a group of people collecting them,\u201d said Stapleton resident Brad Doyle. \u201cWe had the whole family in the car with chairs, bag packed, drinks, etc. But, there was nothing going on. No band. No food trucks. No tents. No sponsors. We were furious. And just confused.\u201d The Doyle family wasn\u2019t alone. \u201cWe got all ready to go over for the event,\u201d said Kristen Fisher. \u201cAnd we show up and all it was was returning your trash cans. I have never been to a Stapleton event so simple and boring. No giant signs, not even a balloon. Just a bunch of cones and a couple of signs directing you where to go. Very disappointing.\u201d Other families planned their entire weekend around the event. \u201cWe were invited to the mountains to stay with some friends,\u201d said Cindy Elmore. \u201cBut, we don\u2019t like missing any fun Stapleton events, so we didn\u2019t go. Turns out, we should have gone. It was easily the worst Stapleton event ever. A whole lot of nothin\u2019. Except for the actual returning of the trash cans, of course.\u201d\nThe MCA has claimed the event was run by the City of Denver and not the MCA. \u201cThe MCA had nothing to do with the event,\u201d said MCA President Paul Harris. \u201cOf course, we would have made a big deal out of it. We don\u2019t like letting our residents down. We want to show them a good time.\u201d Nonetheless, residents were not pleased with the MCA. \u201cIf it\u2019s on our soil, we need to do it our way,\u201d said Doyle. \u201cThe trash cans were being returned in Stapleton, therefore, it is a Stapleton event and needs to have the appropriate Stapleton showiness.\u201d The MCA says they will do a better job of either notifying residents when things are run by the city and not the MCA, or they will make sure to partner with them appropriately, and show residents the good time they deserve.\n]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
