\t\t\t\t\"shirt<\/a>Stapleton has long had an issue with petty crime, and growth and access to the Denver community only increases these opportunities for criminals. Although Stapleton has a low rate of violent crimes, there seems to be a high incidence of package theft, bike theft, and other unattended items in open garages. Recently, disturbing news was reported that thieves had stolen milk out of people\u2019s milk boxes. \u201cWe called Longmont Dairy to let them know we didn\u2019t receive our milk,\u201d said resident Leah Ross. \u201cThey said that we weren\u2019t the only ones in the area reporting that, and said they felt it was probably stolen. Seriously? Who steals milk?\u201d Resident Jenny Hickey was also disturbed to hear the news. \u201cI mean, I can deal with the sound of gun shots, a few packages being taken, but taking people\u2019s food is crossing the line,\u201d said Hickey. \u201cYou\u2019re a dick when you take a package, but you\u2019re a complete dick when you take milk. How do those people sleep at night? I guess after drinking some warm milk?\u201d\n\nThe Denver Police Department recently updated the MCA about even more disturbing news. \u201cThe DPD contacted us and let us know they have some bad news for residents,\u201d said MCA President Paul Harris. \u201cThey have some moles, undercover agents, inside some of these thief rings operating in Stapleton. What they have found out is that the next thing they plan to steal are the shirts off our backs. They are doing everything they can to keep this from happening, but residents should be vigilant. We need to be keeping our heads on a swivel.\u201d There have not been any confirmed reports of residents having the shirts off their backs stolen, but it could happen at any time, according to the DPD. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t surprise me,\u201d said resident Lee Meyers. \u201cIt really is the next step in their progression. Hopefully, we can stop this before it happens. Frustrating just thinking about it.\u201d\nThe DPD recommends residents travel in groups, walking in a constant circle to help \u201cprotect each other\u2019s backs.\u201d \u201cThere\u2019s not a lot the police can do right now,\u201d said Harris. \u201cWe just need to do the best we can as a community and hope they bust the ring up before they begin these operations.\u201d]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
