\t\t\t\t\"school<\/a>Each school year the Denver Police Department hands out thousands of speeding tickets to people driving too fast in school zones. \u201cOur priority is to keep the children safe, obviously,\u201d said DPD spokesperson Brad Cavin. \u201cSo, during the school year, we of course have a push to give out speeding tickets to those not obeying the posted traffic limits. Slower traffic means safer kids.\u201d Of course, Stapleton has a large number of schools, so speeding tickets in school zones there are more abundant. \u201cWe definitely hand out more school zone tickets in Stapleton than any other area of Denver,\u201d said Cavin. \u201cBut, obviously, that is just a numbers thing. We aren\u2019t against residents there or anything.\u201d\n\nResidents are trying to get their speeding in now. \u201cIt\u2019s really nice in the summer being able to drive around and not be conscience of the speed limit change during certain hours,\u201d said resident Mike Gibbs. \u201cOf course, once school starts, I have to look closely at every sign to see if it says \u2018between the hours of.\u2019\u201d Resident Kyle Clark has a similar experience. \u201cOf course I have had a speeding ticket near a school,\u201d says Clark. \u201cI have driven on 35th Ave. before so, yeah, I\u2019ve had a ticket. I love these summers and being able to go to Sam\u2019s club or the dentist<\/a> without getting a ticket.\u201d Residents are encouraged to remember where Stapleton\u2019s 15 school zones are and to either not drive near them between 8-4, or slow down 15 mph as they approach them.\n]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
