The article is helpful in explaining that the area is remnants of the old Stapleton airport which were intended to be recycled and eventually sold. There are several of these types of questions around Stapleton which need to be addressed, the biggest of which is, “what is that empty space in Eastbridge near Havana and MLK?

The short answer is that it is just that. An empty, harmless space. It has never been really anything except for an empty space, and an empty promise. Many residents may not remember this, but that large unused wasteland of a home for geese was originally plotted as a town center similar to the 29th Street town center. It was to have bustling shops and restaurants, encompassing new urbanism. But that plan does not seem like it will ever come to fruition.
The most likely and recent scenario has been the construction of another massive King Soopers, but a contract has yet to be signed for this as well. So, the area remains empty while “talks” continue. There is also potential for a massive low-income housing project as well.
The Stapletonion will continue to cover topics on random sightings and oddities in Stapleton. These will include topics such as “if you are going to make a pocket park that small, why even make it at all?” Please let us know of any other topics you feel are story-worthy.

[161

0":"post-5419","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-issue-98","7":"entry
["GET
