Just north of the Conservatory Green neighborhood, Willow Park East will have 700 homes. The new neighborhood is described as having “a modern aesthetic and an organic vibe” and “a neighborhood that weaves nature on a grand scale into a friendly urban pattern.” Furthermore, “It’s a mix of purposeful new parks, sweeping green spaces, innovative new schools and next-generation homes.”

Does that sound familiar? It should, as the description is very similar to its neighboring community, Conservatory Green which “marks an evolution in home, street and landscape design. With influences of the sweeping prairies and agricultural heritage of the land…” Nevertheless, the description leads one to believe that the new neighborhood could be the best yet. The Stapletonion wanted to take a look at the other neighborhoods and Forest City’s visions of them and contrast those to the current reality of those boroughs.
Bluff Lake
Vision: “This neighborhood is closer to nature with easy access to a 123-acre nature preserve and charming parks programmed to delight the senses.”
Reality: “The Bluff Lake Neighborhood may be really close to Aurora and feel like the end of the world, but you probably got a really good price for your Eastbridge home and were able to buy a bigger home in Bluff Lake.”
South End
Vision: “This neighborhood is nicely established for a shady stroll through Greenway Park to the community garden, the dog park, swimming pools, East 29th Avenue Town Center and your choice of excellent schools.”
Reality: “The South End name says it all as this ill-defined neighborhood is bordered by two of Stapleton’s three busiest streets, Montview and Central Park. You may not believe this but you probably know someone from the South End neighborhood, they simply told you their cross streets instead of the name of the borough.”
Westerly Creek
Vision: “This neighborhood is central to all things Stapleton. Westerly Creek is bisected by 29th Avenue, a bike-friendly route to sushi, sake and shopping in the Town Center. Bordering Central Park and rolling greenways, trails weave a network into other neighborhoods – to pools, the new Central Park Recreation Center and excellent schools.”
Reality: “We probably could have used this description for almost any neighborhood in Stapleton, save a few tweaks, but we set it aside for our favorite. For whatever reason, Westerly Creek has always been Dargossi’s baby, so it has always been in his favor.
East 29th Ave (Classic Stapleton)
Vision: “Stapleton’s social epicenter. East 29th Avenue is home to the Town Center’s shops, restaurants and services. Where people gather in the summertime for free concerts, movies under the stars and a weekly Farmers Market. Here, Stapleton’s rich diversity in both architecture and lifestyle are showcased beautifully, and the community comes to life.”
Reality: “If you enjoy afternoon drinking or unenforced open container laws, East 29th Ave. is for you. Enjoy the constant evolution of the 29th Street shops, as we continue to have fast turnover by overcharging all of our lessees. Delight in the bustling diversity of diners and shoppers from really wealthy to just kind of wealthy, as you see people from all walks of life including white people with blond hair and white folks with brown hair.”
Central Park North
Vision: “Central Park North is bordered by Westerly and Sand Creek Greenways, 80-acre Central Park and includes Stapleton’s new Jet Stream Pool. So there’s no shortage of daily inspiration to get outside and stay active. Central Park North also gives you direct access to The Shops at Northfield Stapleton and I-70 via the Central Park Boulevard interchange.”
Reality: “Being close to the light rail station is going to be great for everyone in Stapleton except us. Experience the constant frustration when driving East of having to go all the way to Central Park Blvd. and MLK just head back the original direction you were at. The people living here have no shortage of dough, so we would never do our shopping at Northfield. But hey, the park is right here, so we have the best vantage point to watch all of the random runs and festivals.
Central Park West
Vision: “There’s close. Then there’s Central Park West close. To East 29th Avenue Town Center, a new E-8 school, the Sam Gary Branch library, Denver’s third-largest park and a future commuter rail stop to downtown and DIA. Which makes it convenient to, well, just about everything you’ll ever need.”
Reality: “We live the closest to Swigert. Suck it, rest of Stapleton!”
Eastbridge
Vision: “All the best things about Stapleton, with a little more privacy. Take a bridge over Westerly Creek, and you’ll find yourself in a neighborhood that showcases a mix of homes – from modest to mansion – and views from Longs Peak to Pikes Peak. Stroll to the F-15 pool, the new Central Park Recreation Center and the Bluff Lake Nature Center. Or hop on a cruiser and grab dinner in the East 29th Avenue Town Center. The neighborhood’s proximity to Anschutz Medical Campus makes it popular among healthcare professionals.”
Reality: “Eastbridge has a ton of homes, which have a lot of cars, which is why Eastbridge has a nearby car wash. If you want to go anywhere for a quick drink or bite, make sure you hop on a bike or jump in a car, because the closest thing you’re ever getting to a town center is on east 29th Ave. Enjoy the 26th Ave. Park with its uniquely short trail looking over dirt and prairie dogs. If you like crime, you’re going to love Eastbrdige. With its several through streets to Aurora, Eastbridge is a perfect target for common thieves looking for a quick grab.

[160

0":"post-5383","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-issue-97","7":"entry
["GET
