{"id":3850,"date":"2013-07-30T22:26:56","date_gmt":"2013-07-31T05:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=3850"},"modified":"2013-07-30T22:26:56","modified_gmt":"2013-07-31T05:26:56","slug":"northfield-to-become-outlet-mall-topia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=3850","title":{"rendered":"Northfield to Become Outlet Mall-Topia?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[<a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/outlet-mall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/outlet-mall-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"outlet mall\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3892\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/northfield-hotel-expected-to-help-struggling-shops-restaurants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Northfield Mall<\/a> continues to struggle, long after the completion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/central-park-exchange-having-limited-impact-on-northfield-businesses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Central Park Blvd. Exchange<\/a>.  <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/forrest-city-%E2%80%9Cnew-jail-offers-town-center-like-amenities%E2%80%9D\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forest City<\/a>, owners of the mall, are looking to potentially change the landscape of the mall forever.  \u201cWe are looking at the possibility of turning the area into an outlet mall,\u201d said Forest City Spokesperson Janelle Ayers.  \u201cThe current format isn\u2019t working, and it\u2019s like they say in the mall business, if it ain\u2019t workin\u2019,\u2019 turn it into an outlet mall.\u201d\n<!--more-->\n<a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/forest-city-required-to-increase-font-size-on-architectural-disclaimers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forest City<\/a> has not made any final decisions on this yet, but does have a few ideas in case they go to plan B.  \u201cI don\u2019t think it would be all bad to have Levi, Polo, Gap, J Crew or even an Eddie Bauer outlet store in the area,\u201d said Ayers.  \u201cWe just need to be forward thinkers at this point.\u201d  Ayers contends that although the word \u201coutlet mall\u201d may have a negative connotation, residents would eventually warm up to the idea.\n\u201cOn the record, I hate the idea of having my community so close to an outlet mall,\u201d said Stapleton resident Shana McDonald.  \u201cIt just seems so <a href=\"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/posts\/forrest-city-taking-%E2%80%9Cless-sub-more-urb%E2%80%9D-slogan-to-whole-new-level\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suburban<\/a>.
