Without kids, they were invited over to other’s homes where they would play with their kids and stay late drinking, as there was no urgency to return home. They had the energy and sleep to go to barbeques at a moment’s notice. People knew they could count on the Retzlaffs for a good time.
That all changed two years ago when the Retzlaff’s started having kids. “We could tell people weren’t super excited about inviting people over with a newborn,” says Jamey. “They had already gone through all the changes of a newborn, they didn’t want to hear about our excitement in all the small changes. Now we have a two year old and a newborn, who wants to hang out with that?”

No one, unless you have a two year old and a newborn. Families with older kids want to hang out with other families with kids the same age as theirs. It keeps the kids occupied and allows time for the parents to drink and eat in peace. Unfortunately for the Retzlaff’s, they have spent most of their time with couples that have older children, and therefore, are not eligible to hang out with them anymore.
“We have been trying to find friends with kids the same age as ours, but no one has time to do crap,” says Jamey. “We talk to everyone over at the park, ask how old their kids are, and are extremely friendly. Unfortunately, it never goes passed that and we have yet to meet friends with kids the same age as ours.” The Retzlaff’s realize that they simply may have to wait until the kids start school to find friends with kids the same age as theirs.

[95

0":"post-2702","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-issue-38","7":"entry
["GET
