\t\t\t\t\"\"<\/a>Stapleton parents are very proud and protective of the schools their children attend. They are willing to argue for hours with other parents about why their school is better, and even work hard to convince other parents to join their school as if it was a cult. This is why some recent events in the community\u2019s school system are so shocking.\nRecently, Principal Vogel has seen a huge influx in requests for space at McAuliffe Middle School. \u201cWe had been recruiting for the last year, and have been very satisfied with our efforts,\u201d says Vogel. \u201cWhat we are surprised about are all the last minute requests to attend our school, in particular kids who are currently attending Roberts Middle School.\u201d\n\nMcAuliffe Principal Vogel says they are only able to accommodate about 10% of the requests. \u201cWe are doing are best to get as many kids in as we can, but we were pretty full to begin with,\u201d says Vogel. \u201cWe probably received about 400 requests in the last two weeks, and parents have been pretty adamant about getting their kids in here (McAuliffe). Some parents have even offered financial bribes, which is honestly the smartest way to get your kids in.\u201d\n\u201cWe have loved our experience at Roberts,\u201d says middle school parent Mary Lockie. \u201cWe simply thought this extra two weeks of school would benefit our child. We are thrilled he got in.\u201d Parents who were not in the lucky 10% to get into McAuliffe were not so happy. \u201cI feel like someone should have let us know about this earlier,\u201d says Roberts parent Erin Fox. \u201cWas this public information? Why didn\u2019t Bill Roberts administration let us know about this two weeks earlier thing? I kind of feel like we were duped.\u201d\nMany parents have already wait listed their current junior high child as well as their younger children. \u201cIt\u2019s really about getting every advantage you can get for your child,\u201d says Fox. \u201cThat and getting them out of your house two weeks earlier.\u201d\n]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
