Zach Richardson (8) hit a two run double off of Juan Nicasio in the top of the sixth plating Jack Manthey (4) and Reece Ferrufino (6) to take the lead. After a leadoff walk to Eric Young, Asher Sittler (7) induced a double play to Sky Sox Brendan Harris, and struck out Dexter Fowler to end the game.

“Even though it’s an exhibition, we still expected to win,” said Rockies Manager Jim Tracy. The 7-9 year old youth team continued to fight after being down early. Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer kept the All-Star team at bay the first three innings, as the kids had yet to see pitches that slow. All-Star starter Jacob Wallace (7) settled down after allowing a three-run first highlighted by a Tulowitzki solo home run.
The All-Star team finally got something going trailing 4-0 in the top of the fourth when Payton Nowell (6) legged out an infield single. After a ground out sacrifice, Nowell scored on a double off the wall by Gabe Shelton (7). Shelton scored on the very next pitch on Lincoln Anolin’s line drive single to right.
The Rockies added two runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend to a 6-2 lead, scoring both runs with two outs. Back to back doubles by Carlos Gonzalez and Brandon Roberts (Sky Sox) followed by a single by Jordan Pacheco added the runs. “At that point, we were ready to call it a day,” said Rockies outfielder Gonzalez. “It was good to get the extra work in, but obviously, it didn’t end as we expected. Heck, we didn’t even get tacos.”
In the top of the fifth, the All Star team added three runs to close the gap. With one out, Jakob Koinzan (7) singled and Nate McHugh (7) followed up with a single of his own. With a 2-2 count against reliever Esmil Rogers, Lucas Brennan (7) sent a hanging breaking ball 483 feet into the left field bleachers, narrowing the gap to 6-5.
After Sam Scott (7) pitched a perfect fifth and sixth inning including three strikeouts, the stage was set for Zach Richardson’s sixth inning heroics. “I made a mistake on the pitch,” said Nicasio. “We had done our scouting and knew Richardson was good with off-speed pitches. “I just didn’t hit my spot.” The Rockies have won five in a row, and hope the debacle on May 24th is what they needed to get back on track.

[88

0":"post-2169","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-issue-31","7":"entry
["GET
