{"id":192,"date":"2011-04-12T07:52:52","date_gmt":"2011-04-12T14:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=192"},"modified":"2011-04-12T07:52:52","modified_gmt":"2011-04-12T14:52:52","slug":"winter-over-kids-not-satisfied","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/?p=192","title":{"rendered":"Winter Over, Kids Not Satisfied"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[<!--more-->Spring is in the air, but area kids are still upset about the lack of snow this winter.\u00a0 \u201cThe sledding absolutely SUCKED this year\u201d, exclaimed 9 year old Stapleton resident Luke Carman.\u00a0 \u201cI mean really, where was all the precip?\u2019 added younger sister (7), Riley Carman.\u00a0 They have a point. Due to very low levels of precipitation along the Front Range, and specifically the Stapleton neighborhood, there were only a few days that were deemed conducive for the popular outdoor winter activity.\u00a0 There has been record-low snowfall in Denver this year.\u00a0 Kids estimate that this year there \u201chas been really not a lot of snow\u201d as compared to last years \u201clots, and lots of snow.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s a big difference.\u00a0 Luke and Riley\u2019s Dad, Keith Carman shared the sentiments of many area children.\u00a0 \u201cIt was dry as a bone down here.\u00a0 I bailed on buying a ski pass as I thought we would spend a lot more time sledding.\u201d\u00a0 Fundraising has already begun for a cloud-seeding project to enhance snow conditions for next season.\u00a0 Because of the urgency of the situation, money has been transferred from the new school to begin construction on several sledding improvements including valet sled services, a base lodge and a high speed chair lift.\u00a0 These projects are scheduled to be completed by November 2011, pushing the school opening to 2017.\u00a0 Winter wasn\u2019t all bad for kids, as they did receive two cancellations due to cold weather, plus their usual 14 sick days, 12 weeks vacation, all major U.S. Holidays, and three personal days.\u00a0 After the sledding improvements are made, maybe we will finally have a community worthy of them growing up in.]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_coblocks_attr":"","_coblocks_dimensions":"","_coblocks_responsive_height":"","_coblocks_accordion_ie_support":"","_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[75],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-192","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-issue-2","7":"entry"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/192","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=192"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/192\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=192"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=192"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/stapletonion.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=192"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
