The 2014 Stapleton Pride party was again a huge success, with residents from all walks of life showing up to celebrate diversity in the Stapleton community. “The weather tried to keep us down,” said organizer Kristen Miller. “But, nothing can keep down the great people who attended the party.” The party went on despite the weather, but there was one hitch. A wedding that is.
Longtime couple Mike and Scott became Mike and Scott Andreasen when they said their nuptials at the Stapleton Pride party. “We thought it would be a great place to get married,” said Mike Andreasen. “A lot of our friends from the neighborhood were going to be there as well as friends we invited. Why not do it in a setting so accepting in our great community.” Party organizers were thrilled when they found out about the Andreasen’s plans. “It was really a special moment for all who attended,” said Miller. “We have always wanted someone to do this, but of course, never wanted it to be forced. So, when they came to us, needless to say, we were elated.”
Scott and Mike have simple plans for their honeymoon. “We are actually going on a golf trip in Galena,” said newlywed Scott Andreasen. “We both enjoy golf, and we are just going to go for about five days. We are really looking forward to it.” Scott and Mike said they are very happy with their decision to get married at the Pride Party. “We wouldn’t change a thing,” said Mike. “Well, maybe the weather.” Who knows, maybe next year’s Pride Party will have more than one hitch.
