Rec Center Pool Wins Bid for 2016 America’s Cup

Central Park Rec Center manager Steven Thill thought of the idea after a local resident snuck a jet ski into the pool, but remained unnoticed for four hours. “We finally realized just how large of an area we are dealing with.” The main concern for competitors is the absence of wind in an indoor environment. “Thankfully, we did not build large enough rooms for our exercise classes, so we will be relocating our spin classes to be adjacent to the pool. This will generate more than enough wind for the event.” Organizers of the Americas Cup event are hoping the move inland will increase the popularity of sailing in landlocked states, where sailing as a pastime has been traditionally unpopular.]]>
