The Stapleton MCA has long encouraged residents to have fun events at the several Stapleton pocket parks. One of the events that has been encouraged over the years is a camping outing. Parents are encouraged to bring their families and camping gear to the pocket park and have a fun, low stress camp out. Of course, many families are unable to make it through the night, but the families are all able to enjoy their time out.

Feds on Hoffa: “Not in Michigan, Time to Dig Up Stapleton”
Just days after Federal investigators cleared any chance of former Teamster’s leader Jimmy Hoffa’s body being in an abandon barn in Oakland Township, Michigan, Feds are already moving forward with their search. “We did not find any evidence that Mr. Hoffa’s body was in the previous location,” said lead federal investigator Greg Schmadeke. “We have moved on, and are checking out a new lead near the old airport in Denver, Colorado.”

FDA, IRS Come Down Hard on Stapleton Lemonade Stands
Stapleton residents have become accustomed to the dozens of lemonade stands randomly placed in the community throughout the summer. It is a fun way for kids to make a little money, and a great way to get a refreshment for a passersby. “I love seeing the kids out there selling their lemonade,” said resident Christine Ellers. “It is so old school, and makes our neighborhood look even more perfect.” Other residents agree. “These kids are just trying to make a few bucks so they can chip in for the new Wii game their parents are going to buy them,” said Brian Sorensen. “There’s no harm in that.”

Stapleton Farmers Market to Begin Charging For Parking
The Stapleton Farmer’s Market continues to bustle more and more every year. However, retailers aren’t always seeing the profits. Traffic continues to rise at the market, but most of the traffic is people going up to entertain the family and maybe get something to eat from the Biscuit Bus. “We go up almost every week we are in town,” said resident Kara Clinton. “However, most of it is just to let the kids run around while it is below 95 degrees. We rarely ever buy anything.”

Stapleton Mom’s Yahoo Group: “Hey, Everyone, My Neighbor Katie Lance is Really Bad at Her Job”
The Stapleton Mom’s Yahoo Group has certainly served a great purpose over its many years. The biggest benefit has been the ability to easily buy and sell goods, but it has helped in several other areas as well. People have received advice to help with their kids, found play dates, and asked advice on types of vehicles they should buy. All of this would seem like enough, but like any other organization, the Stapleton Mom’s Yahoo group is always looking to improve and expand.
In recent years, the group ventured into politics, letting people know who they should vote for and where they should stand on certain issues facing the country. This was extremely helpful, and proved to be a big success. “We knew it was an area that we needed to step up and cover,” said group moderator Cindy Jeurgens. “I think people learned a lot and the dialogue was so civil and helpful.” That success has led the group to yet another area that had not yet been covered.
“There are so many small business owners in Stapleton,” said Jeurgens. “Plus, we have doctors (medical), dentists, realtors, and lawyers that all live and work in the community. Our forum had not yet provided a way to publicly chastise these hard-working members of our community.” The Yahoo group came out strong this week when someone posted a question regarding working with Katie Lance’s IT consulting firm. “It was a big success,” said Jeurgens. “Immediately, people responded to the question so that all of our almost 5,000 members were able to see their opinions. It worked out great.”
The test run for the newest venture for Stapleton Mom’s Yahoo Group seemed to be a success. Some people reported that they did not have a good experience with Katie Lance, but others thought she did a great job. Luckily, all of these opinions were in full view of all of the Stapleton Mom’s members, and most certainly Katie Lance and her friends and family got a chance to see what someone said about her to 5,000 people. Another Stapleton Mom’s success story. Jeurgens said that Stapleton Mom’s will continue its mission of moving forward and helping the community. Soon to come topics include:
• Can we agree that my neighbor, ______ is fatter than me?
• Is my husband sleeping with ________?
• The _______’s kids are really annoying!
• My neighbor’s, the ________’s never, ever shovel. How can I tell them it bothers me?
• The _______’s think their baby is cute. It is not.
• _______ just lost his job. I think they are going to lose their house.
• I am having an affair with _______.]]>
SUN, MCA Concerned About Border Security After Through Street Completed
With the pending completion of the Havana/Iola through street to Aurora, community members and associations are concerned with the security that will be provided in regards to Aurorans crossing the border into Stapleton. “We are already fighting this situation, and access will now be easier for those on ‘the other side,’” said concerned resident Mike Stevens. “Neither Forest City nor the MCA have made any assurances to the community that security will be stepped up not just at the border, but across the entire community.”

Stapleton Literally Going to Have Ivory Tower
Recently, talks about a community arts center between the Stapleton MCA and Forest City came to a screeching halt. Since that time, Forest City has decided to not lease the space, but to instead make some slight decorative modifications. The biggest change they plan to make is to actually cover the exterior of the tower in ivory.

Least Tough Stapleton Elementary to Open In Fall
When community leaders were looking to name the incoming Stapleton 4 school, the biggest goal was to not sound threatening. “We wanted a school that would give the students the feeling of being safe,” said board member Shawn Creary. “We decided that giving the school a very non-threatening name would help accomplish that.” The board looked at a series of non-threatening names, but ultimately decided on Isabella Bird Community School (IBCS). The name beat out other frontrunners including:
• Dandelion Elementary
• Huggy-Bear Community School
• Butterfly Kisses Elementary
• Princess Wishes Community School
