Stapleton swingers are typically a quiet, underground group, but recently have become vocal. “When we first saw the Stapleton Swap Facebook Page we kind of laughed about it,” says swinger Luke Wiley. “But once we saw they had about 2000 members, we thought enough was enough. This is who we are, and someone is taking it away from us.”

Stapleton Men Organize “March Vasectomy Madness”
A group of Stapleton men decided enough was enough when it came to producing offspring, so decided it was time to “get snipped” so to speak. “Most of us knew we were done for a while, but decided to make it official,” says Stapleton resident and father of three Keith Ott. “I was talking to a neighbor friend about it who said they were planning it, and we each knew a couple other guys in the hood who were going to get it done. So we thought, hey, they have baby showers. Let’s have our own little snipping shower. And what better time of year than the first weekend of March Madness.”

School Choice Announcements Blow Up Internet
Within the last week, most Stapleton residents who had a first-time kindergartner found out what school their kindergartner had gotten into. For some, it was the news they had hoped for and expected. For others, it was a nightmare. “We did not get into our first choice,” says parent Krista Mitchell. “We applied for Swigert which is the closest school to us, but ended up getting into High Tech Elementary. What are we going to do now? I am already writing emails, letters, and contacting everyone I know to get this changed.”

King Soopers to Extend Automatic Cart Lock Perimeter
Over the past decade, King Soopers has taken a lot of heat from the Stapleton consumers. There have been the basic complaints over organic food choices, cramped aisle space, long confusing lines at the pump, and most recently, a mouse running around inside the deli case. What has somehow gone under the radar, however, is how shopping carts often lock up prior to getting to your vehicle. “My car will literally be parked in the lot,” says frustrated Soopers shopper Tom McDonald. “But somehow, right before I get to my cart, the wheel locks up. It’s incredibly frustrating.”

Stapleton Residents Getting Older, Uglier
Stapleton is now about 60% built out and has been around for over a decade now. Since the birth of the neighborhood, the community has been quickly adding elementary schools, junior highs, and now a high school. That alone should tell you how quickly folks in “the bubble” are aging. “When the community started, it was obviously a lot of young couples looking to start a family,” says SUN President Mike Victoria. “A lot of those couples that moved in were attractive and successful. So, the community has continued to grow in that fashion. Young, attractive couples moving to Stapleton looking to start families.”

Stapleton Block Agrees New Neighbors Much too Nice
The majority of people who move to Stapleton are coming here for the long haul or at least until their kids graduate from high school. But of course, there is some turnover, and that turnover on a block or neighborhood can be positive or negative. Sometimes the new guys on the block are an upgrade from the old neighbors and are cooler and more fun. Other times, cool neighbors move, and the new family who moves in is rude or even obnoxious. These are the most common things that happen when someone moves away and a new family moves in. But there is one more thing that can happen. The new neighbors can simply be too nice for the block. They can be cool and fun, but simply too good of people for their surrounding neighbors.

The Stapletonion Celebrates 100th Issue!
This week, the Stapletonion celebrates its 100th issue, and over four years of covering Stapleton news. No one is going to pat us on the back, so we will have to do it ourselves. Since March 2011, the Stapletonion has included close to 800 journalistic gems in the bi-monthly publication delivering groundbreaking stories to Stapletonians. We have had over 150,000 visitors with over 325,000 page views. We have 800 subscribers, and over 1,200 Facebook fans (300 more and we get a free set of steak knives, I think). People from all over the world have visited our site, whether intentionally or not. In fact, the only countries outside of Africa that have not had a visitor to our site are Greenland, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
We have a lot of people to thank for our longevity, and the readers are the most important. Thanks to all of you who continue to read our publication and share it with others. Also, thank you to all of the freelance writers who have submitted stories and ideas over the years. Your contributions are truly appreciated. We of course want to thank our advertisers, present and past. The site would never work without our great graphic designer Neil from stickflower, so a big shout out to him!
Finally, a special thank you to the organizations which make the Stapletonion possible; Forest City, King Soopers, Aurorans, Stapleton Mom’s Yahoo Group, prairie dogs, and crazy Stapletonians. Keep it up, as we hope to have hundreds of more issues in the upcoming years! Thank you again for your readership, and enjoy Issue 100!
