MCA to Residents: “Stop Dumping Unsold Garage Sale Items in Creek”

May 26, 2016 by admin

people-dumping-things-in-creek-from-garage-saleThe Stapleton garage sale was this last weekend, and the streets were crowded with residents and non-residents looking to pick up great items at a low price. The Stapleton garage sale mostly serves as an opportunity for residents to do some spring cleaning, getting rid of old kids toys, clothes, and unwanted furniture to make room for the new pieces. But, buyers are often just as excited to grab these old items. “We had our stuff out on our lawn by 7:30 in the morning,” said resident Amy White. “And all the big pieces of furniture were gone by 9:15. Some people were even fighting over who got to what first. I really don’t care. I just wanted it off my property.” Although most residents experienced at least modest success at getting rid of their unwanted furniture, there were still items left behind. Stapleton Family Lets Everyone Know, “We’ll Be at OUR Place in Vail This Weekend”

May 26, 2016 by admin

family has place in vailThe Wubbenas are fairly outgoing people, and when they are headed to the mountains, they become even more outgoing. “We love Mindy and Jake,” said friend and neighbor Teresa Hays. “But, it can be a little painful when they go to their place in the mountains because it is definitely a little braggy. Yes, we know you are doing well, we know you have a place in Vail. Just say you are going to the mountains. We can fill in the blanks.” Friend Stacy Schack agrees. “She definitely likes to work it in to the conversation,” said Schack. “I won’t even ask, and she will say things like, ‘we need to get together, but I can’t this weekend because we are headed to our place in Vail.’ It’s pretty transparent that she is trying to brag about the place.” [Read more…] about Stapleton Family Lets Everyone Know, “We’ll Be at OUR Place in Vail This Weekend”

May 26, 2016 by admin

Juvenile Detention FacitlityThe juvenile detention center being constructed in the 29th Ave. Town Center is currently ahead of schedule, according to the managers of the project. “We’ve made some great progress in the last couple of weeks,” said project manager Marc Weber. “We are ahead of schedule, and it appears we should be done about two months earlier than expected.” The project which was originally supposed to be completed by December could now be done as early as October. “We know the detention facility is ready to start bringing in guests immediately,” said Weber. “There has been some pressure to get it done early, based on the number of troubled youth, but we are building at a comfortable pace.” [Read more…] about Construction of Town Center Juvenile Detention Facility Coming Along Nicely

Breaking News: Stapleton Neighbors Resolve Dispute Privately and Civilly

May 26, 2016 by admin

neighborly dispute settledd civilyThe Campbell family had recently become irritated with their neighbor’s, the Liens, late night weekend gatherings on their back patio. “It was frustrating because at first, we thought it was a onetime occurrence,” said neighbor Katy Campbell. “Then, it seemed like every weekend they were having friends over, and were up late listening to music and hanging out. It’s not that big of a deal, except we have a baby, so we need her to sleep, and we need the sleep.” The Campbell couple knew what they had to do, but it was going to go against the grain of how almost everyone in Stapleton prefers to solve neighborly disagreements. Park Hill to Stapleton: “Train Horn Not as Irritating as Jet Engines”

May 11, 2016 by admin

train horn not as bad as jetsThe Central Park Station is in full throttle, and overall, Stapletonians are enjoying either taking the train or having it as an option. “Suddenly opening up every Lo-Do restaurant as a place to go to dinner is really cool,” said resident Amy DeLay. “We went down for Mother’s Day, and it was so easy and so much fun.” Other residents agree. “We will definitely see more Rockies games this season,” said Benjamin Dreesman. “Not having to worry about driving and parking is truly a game changer. Hell, I’m even considering seeing some Avs games this winter. I hope everyone will appreciate how great this train dealio is.” Not all Stapleton residents are so enthused. “Westbound comes every 14 minutes and Eastbound every 24 minutes,” explains Central Park North resident Mark Wiley. “Which is great, except they sound that horn each time they approach the station. Is that necessary, or is it some sort of tradition? Just seems a little unnecessary.” North Eastbridge resident Dawn Buenger agrees. “It is pretty loud and annoying,” says Buenger. “Is it really that common for people just to walk out in front of a commuter train? They have bells at the station, too. Can’t we just have the bells? It is very disruptive to people close to the area.” Park Hill residents remain fairly unaffected by the new transit system, but do have some encouraging news for Stapletonians. “I have lived in Park Hill for 30 years,” exclaimed Randy Day. “We used to have jets flying over our heads every five minutes. From 6AM until 11PM, every day. Now, I don’t know a ton about decibels, but I do know I would rather have a train horn once in a while than the constant sound of jets taking off and landing.” Long time Park Hill resident Eric Drenner also recalls the noise prior to the Stapleton Airport closing in 1995. “I can’t imagine a train could be any worse,” said Drenner. “My house would literally shake, almost all day. Does the train make your Stapleton house shake? Probably not. I guess my advice to Stapletonians would be to enjoy the quiet horn of progress, and be happy you never have to worry about a plane crashing down on your house.” ]]>

BLM 5280 Requests Running Man at Central Park Station be Painted Black

May 11, 2016 by admin

white running manThe Denver activist group Black Lives Matter 5280 has requested Stapleton undergo a name change. Now, they’re upset with an art piece at Stapleton’s newly opened Central Park Station. “Really? A white running man?,” questioned BLM 5280 Spokesperson James Williams. “They could have thought through this one a little better. Do black people not take trains? Trust me, black people take the train. I think this is just another slap in the face from Stapleton and Forest City.” [Read more…] about BLM 5280 Requests Running Man at Central Park Station be Painted Black

Downtown to be Renamed “Stapleton West?”

May 11, 2016 by admin

stapleton-westThe addition of the A-Line (or the University of Colorado A line as it so cumbrously called) has made it significantly easier for Stapleton residents to travel and explore downtown. So much so, that downtown Denver may be going through a name change. “The truth is, Stapleton is good for business,” said downtown Denver visitor’s bureau spokesperson Mandy Kohrt. “We want Stapletonians down here eating lunch, eating dinner, doing their shopping. We are also sensitive to the fact that Stapletonians don’t always like to leave Stapleton. Well, maybe making a slight name change to downtown Denver can alleviate both problems. They won’t have to ‘leave’ Stapleton, and downtown Denver increases revenue. Everyone wins.” [Read more…] about Downtown to be Renamed “Stapleton West?”
