Old Block Captain Surveys Damage Done by New Block Captain

Former Block Captain Amanda Baldwin returned to Stapleton this week to look at the ruins she used to call home.  “It’s as if the current block captain hasn’t done anything except forward emails,” says Baldwin who had moved from Stapleton less than a year ago. Her legacy still lives in the community and on her former block.  “The new block captain is a nice person, but they lack the leadership and heart that Amanda does,” mentioned a block resident on the condition of anonymity.

While block captain, Amanda led the Kickball tournament, pushed through important SUN and MCA legislation, and spearheaded the largest block party in the country, which included jumpy castles, a DJ, games, and was also fully catered.

“Yeah, we miss her,” mentioned another former neighbor. “Not just the block, but the entire community is struggling to regain its footing. Home prices are even down.”

Baldwin has come back at the request of SUN and the MCA in hopes that some consulting efforts can reignite the struggling block and community. “It seems like block captains these days simply don’t want to be involved beyond their powerful title,” says Baldwin.  “I am hoping that we can put some things in motion to change this.”  If the consulting efforts do not work, there is already a financial package being put together to lure the Baldwins back.

I am interested in spearheading the workgroup to finance the return of the Baldwins ASAP!

This article truly captures the loss felt by Stapleton, Denver, Colorado, and the western half of the U.S., since the departure of The Baldwins.
